She’s really starting to come together. Ordered a crescent wrench because somehow neither me or my dad have one and the next step for the build is to put the new shocks on.

Road tripping for some camping and fishing. Going skidless  Sadly I feel it necessary to get just a tad better fuel economy with the way things are going now.

Developed a squeak after some big river crossings. Thought it was my tensioner or idler pulleys but it still makes the noise after I’m driving and shut the engine off….seems to be coming from the middle to the back of the truck. Hoping it’s the u joints or the carrier bushing. Going to change them up. Truck has 82k miles

I need to figure out a better way to do the weatherstripping. Also, they forgot the "Toyota" letters. Those should be here next week.

I have good memories of my '85. Well except for the 7.5 city/11 hwy mpg. People think FJ's are rough on gas. It had a high output 351 with a 3 speed no overdrive transmission. The only thing high output was my wallet at the gas pump. Had a 32 gallon gas tank that would empty out around 250 miles in town. Gas was only $1.15 a gallon back then in the mid 90's. Today would be over $130 to fill it up. Was a helluva truck though.

I almost went with the same grille (in Barcelona Red of course), but then I looked at the prices.

I caught a sale with free shipping so it was around $210 last fall. I already had the headlights and wanted to swap all at the same time. Sold the excellent chrome grille for $40 so that helped. Not sure if I will sell or keep the stock headlights. Would like to try doing the black mod to them just for fun.

Thanks. I think I got it.
What did you use? The hammer method? Or did you use a vise? Press?

It is the one that came with the truck new, toyota trd factory one. No rubbing on the body so far with the 275s and have been wheeling at speed down fire/logging roads and crawling in and out of river beds. Spent the last week vacationing in the back country and am pleased with the rim and tire decision.

Are those the official tacomabeast/spyder headlights or offbrand ones? Thinking about getting a pair for myself

In preparation for spring/summer waxing (hopefully tomorrow). Paint is holding up great after 11+ years other than the inevitable small nicks/chips/touchups on the leading edge of the hood. I clay bar hood and roof annually and the sides and back every other year (this year was everything, including windows).
