These prices are out of hand. Just talked to a dealer about a 8 year old used bike and he wants 142% of what it sold for 8 years ago…

Told him I’d usually only offer 50% but since times are the way they are I’d do an extra $500 haha. Haven’t heard back…

so yah. I’m old. Worried about things like prostate…oh that reminds me! Tomorrow is the distinguished gentleman’s ride. Raising money for such things! So since ya’ll brought it up, you can donate!

In all seriousness though. I’m an ambassador for a Moto hitch company and we’re giving away an 800 dollar bike hitch, plus donated 500 bucks. Taking it seriously. This is my 7 th year. It’s for a good cause. Hit the link or use the QC code. Ride is tomorrow so I’ll shut up after this. Promise. And thanks in advance.

402B97B2-8B72-4DFD-8627-F3206014694E.jpg We’ll update on the klx300. I changed my mind on color and will be getting the fragmented camo. I like the blacked out frame, forks, swing arm and wheels better than the silver on the green. I was looking on my dealers website and a 2022 camo popped up. I went in today and they didn’t even know it was on there. Anyway it had a vin so it’s on the way and should be here in a couple weeks. They had it listed on their site for 400 over MSRP. Told them that I won’t pay over MSRP and if they didn’t lower it I would withdraw my deposit and go else where. Well the owner Scott came out and said to me no problem we will sell it to you for MSRP. Just got a call and the salesman confirmed that the bike is mine. Can’t wait.

time to get a pipe, power commander skid plate, new dual sport helmet , boots ect. Damn spending money like it’s burning a hole in my pocket. Yes paying cash for everything.

Nice!! Been eyeballing the SM variant since it came out. Nothing more fun!

Let us know how you like it when you get it. I hear it’s got great adjustable suspension at speed off road compared to the same budget competition.

Didn’t even know this was a thing! Just looked up the specs and it has the same horsepower as a drz400sm, fuel injected and its 16lbs lighter.

It’s definitely not as grunty but it is lighter and more nimble! I’ve only done a super short test ride on the Kawi. Can’t comment too much.

The fuel injection and lighter weight would outweigh the power for me!

I was able to ride a R1250RT, and ruled that out too.

I’m fairly settled on the BMW Grand America although if a Goldwing Tour (non-DCT) were to become available, it would be tempting.

Does anyone have any advice for price negotiation with the dealer? Am I pretty much going to pay MSRP?

I use to pride myself in being able to sway them wayyyyyy down in price on anything. I hate to say those days are over. You’d be looking to get some Doc Fees waived or a free hat or something. It’s much more difficult these days.

I basically play their game, let them think they have a sale, and after all their time put in start being willing to walk if they can’t do A, B, C.

That’s the key though. You can’t bluff it. If you’re not 100% willing to walk there’s no point in negotiation. Once they see you walking out that door they usually come and say no no we can make this deal work, let’s talk, then you know you’ve got ‘em. Not really a thing these days, unfortunately.

I’ve always come back to Yamaha. After every brand they always have the right fit for me.

    My hierarchy is roughly:

    YAMAHA

    Suzuki

    Honda

    dirt

    Kawasaki

    …personally :)

I have owned Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda, Harley, Yamaha street bikes. Never really had a problem with any of them and all were great bikes. My favorite was my 2002 Kawasaki ZRX 1200. That bike was bad ass. I ride a 2012 FZ1 now. Would rather have the Kawasaki back but the FZ1 is a great bike. I am not brand loyal,, just get and ride what I like.

You’re absolutely correct. In the big picture not even close.

But I have no brand loyalty and every time I go to buy a bike that fits needs A, B, C I end up on a Yami or Suzi more often than a Honda (even though Honda is the largest and arguably best of the bunch). Just happens that way for one quirky dude’s very non-typical wants. Not true of the big picture, for sure.

The fun factor is tempting, even if they couldn’t be bothered to put a fuel gauge indicator in 2022… (or gear indicator, but not as big a deal to me).

I think more bikes should have cruise as well after finally owning one with it. Never thought I’d need it but I use it in town all the time when I’m in a 35mph straight shot and want to sit up and stretch or whatever.

Rode out to the Powell's Fort area of Fort Valley this morning. Took way too many "Road Closed" roads that were just muddy dead-ends but had a great time!
