Not so much anymore. Took almost $60 to fill the truck and it wasn't even at 1/4 tank.

This is seriously putting a crimp on my favorite pass time, the daily van took $75 and that is for (mostly) necessary driving.
The truck and the old wagon are for recreational use.
One problem with retirement -- shortage of disposable income -- well, hell -- any income actually. :sadviolin:

I like random driving from time to time but don't find myself doing much of it anymore. Usually enough driving with a destination in mind, that's enough.
Tomorrow morning have 9 o'clock box truck pickup scheduled to move all the big stuff from the rental. That will 160 mile round trip.
Monday I'm going to go visit a store called The Boot Barn, that's probably 100 miles round trip, and somewhere in there I've got to pick up a new lawn/leaf blower as mine pretty much blew its last blow today:rofl:I don't know what's wrong with it exactly but as old as it is not worth messing with.
Got project Corvette shed all cleaned up today, prly a pound coffee can worth of dead lady bug, 2 mice and lots of green mouse dropping. Mop the floors in there and disinfect all the tables where rodents running around.
Had a fire going in the burn pit, burn a few boxes and papers with SS #'s n stuff, lots of sticks etc.
Washed both Tacoma's and now sit down to relax.
Wife just holler at me the angel food cake is done and some homemade strawberry topping. So I need to get myself some of that.

It was delicious. Much better than the pre-made strawberry topping we had last week :anonymous:
Last week's was still good enough to have again.
Still haven't made up my mind on whether or not to replace the water pump and thermostat on daughter's Jeep, but I did shop them at Rock Auto a bit today. I noticed the factory Mopar thermostat has a jiggle valve in it, and wondering if the one in there doesn't have it and that could cause problems?
    Anyone know?
Good question for @Tacoma Mike ?
Is that jiggle valve important for some applications?

Yeah. May not be getting all the air out of the system? Crazy thought of me maybe but I was wondering if the radiator was getting a water hammer effect:confused:

I think they're pretty sharp looking cars / crossover.
I told her she's more than welcome to drive my car for awhile. I don't want to see her go in debt and then not like her new job and feel stuck there.
The new Rav4 just a step up from base model is 32k
Or like $500.00 more than what I bought my Tacoma for 5 years ago, new.

Manufacturers are always looking to save a dollar, if Mopar saw fit to include it I would consider it important.
Thermostats are one of the items I tend to go OEM on just for that reason.
The t-stat is oriented vertically on the 4.0, the jiggle valve goes at the 12 o'clock position.

The old standard back in the day was a Robertshaw brand (#330-195), they looked like a flying saucer, tough to come by now.
The only t-stats I have ever had fail on me were Stant brand.

The water hammer effect is why they included the bleed valve IIRC. Read up on the reasoning a long time ago, hazy...

Getting away from it all has morphed into "getting away with it all".

An RV dealer in the area will sometimes have big open houses with dozens of campers on display, we went a few years ago, just for fun.
These "campers" are like palaces, more features than a very comfortable home.

That was a interesting link about those thermostat.
And flowkooler was a brand of pump I was considering but think there are a couple of others I was looking at that had a steel impeller. Apparently some of the cheaper ones are plastic impeller.
It's time I better go to bed. Busy moving stuff tomorrow.
    G'night all.
