Passed through Jackson, WY. Really was not expecting it to be that built up. Never seen an REI outside a large metro area.

Kind of gave a Moab vibe. Towns that have definitely outgrown their footprint.

 

Jackson? Not built up? It's one of the most premier ski resort towns in the country.

And full of billionaires and millionaires.

You bet is bet up haha

 

The book Billionaire Wilderness was an interesting read after exploring around that area.

Such an incredible area, and I can see why people want to be there, but I can't stand the shit-show of the town. Exactly the same sentiments for Aspen.

 

Aspen, Jackson, and big sky. Perfect examples of money ruining great places.

 

Worth buying the book?

It's a premium brand, not fab shop stuff. What did you expect? Their lame wedge tent (not the GFC, just the tent) costs a ton too and isn't special in the slightest over the others. They're like apple now, you're paying for the name.

Yeah I think that one still needed a lot of money dumped into it but at $4500 you couldn't loose much.

Pretty sure their ultra light tent was discontinued due to too many warranty repairs.


Today I made progress on the pop top moisture issue I have. Old rotten wood out and new wooden getting prepped with new hardware too. The wood acts as a clamp to hold the bottom of the canvas in place. I want to change to a plastic, kinda like that cutting board material but not sure where I can get big sheets of it. Would eliminate a lot of the moisture issues I am seeing.

 

My local metal place sells UHMW/ABS/acetal/Teflon in any shape you want. You just send them what you need and they can water jet it. I've seen the sheets you can get it in thicknesses all the way up to an inch and it comes as a massive 8x8 so at worst you might have one joint in a length.

 

What place is that?

I need like 5 8ft of 1.5" wide, 3/8" material.
