I have spent a tremendous amount of time throughout my life in the deep woods and wilderness hunting, fishing and back packing. I have seen and experienced things that scared the hell out of me. One experience caused a little ptsd and because of it I wouldn’t venture into the woods by myself for 3 years. I have seen UFO’s on 2 occasions, it was a little scary but not much. I have had other encounters and experiences in remote wilderness that are inexplicable, strange, threatening and dangerous. I’ve always carried a powerful gun when in the wilderness (357 mag, 44 mag, or a hunting rifle or both). I’ve had experiences where I felt or knew a gun would not be effective against the threat. There are things out there we can’t explain and know not what they are.
And Alan as far as God, you won’t see God until you cross over the rainbow bridge, hopefully you’ll see God. And 4 leaf clovers, you and I both grew up or lived in Oakland and we had a front yard full of clover and many 4 leaf clovers were among them.

Four leaf clovers are common enough that anyone can find one if they look.

I didn't realize I was seeing a UFO, and don't describe it as anything but a "UFO", until I read those newspapers describing it as one.

As for God? I practice natural spirituality... which means I have some spiritual moments but claim no knowledge enough to assign any kind of belief system. Screw the labels... they are inadequate.

We better leave the God subject on the table, but with regard to labels, sounds like something George Carlin would have said! Hard to disagree with anything he said, right?

I swear I picked up George Carlin coming north out of Albuquerque one frosty day. There had been an ice storm and there were all kinds of cars in the ditch, many of them Jeeps, and many highway patrol cars. We were driving a Gremlin with practically bald tires but had managed to stay on the road. The guy was standing at the side of the road with his thumb out... car in the ditch. As soon as I picked him up I noticed the resemblance and mentioned it. The guy scowled and it was obvious he was bad tempered. We dropped him off at the next exit, at a Denny's or whatever restaurant was there in those times.
Carlin was incredibly funny... but as he got older less so. He was so d**n morose that I'd imagine he made everyone around him miserable.

Cool Old Dudes with years full of experiences and the wisdom that comes from them. That's what brought me to this thread...and what makes it the most rational and calm thread on TW. Thank you all for allowing me to sit on the porch steps for over a decade now.

I hate it! I thought I was the only one here. Thankfully it'll be in the 70s tomorrow. I like the cold as long as it's not too extreme. I enjoy splitting firewood when it's in the 20s and sunny. Temperatures in the 80s are Ok if the humidity isn't too high. In the low 90s now, mowed the lawn this morning. I have a shade sail on the deck which blocks the sun and definitely cools it a bit, and fortunately there's been a decent breeze, so it's been tolerable.

MQQSE you too are a cool old dude full of experience and wisdom. All of us old dudes didn’t get to this point cause we are dumb. We have brains, know how to use them and acquired wisdom that many never come close to especially the current younger generation. The porch here is a great place full of awesome old guys and gals (would never forget you Susan)

I have a feeling your idea of hot weather is not the same as my idea of hot weather.

Ah, the wisdom. My wisdom is starting to get tattered and frayed around the edges. I can't remember shit anymore and then I repeat myself. To make matters worse, I can't remember shit anymore and then I shit myself. :notsure:

    Evening all:
Got more trimming done today, by the time I'm done trimming it will be time to mow again! :annoyed:

Welcome to the porch peterra, fill up the cooler and pull up a chair, I see you've already been warned about Mikes rocker. There's also a big recliner over in the corner that's reserved for a guy we lost through a ban named Jim, that's sacred and off limits to all, sure do miss him!

Good morning fellow Porchatonians!! Jim - The Legend. I miss that guy, too.

I power washed our porches yesterday - then spent a few hours by the pool. Nice.
