I swear by there products too! A full charge would defintely last your commute. You can't beat some of those old corded workhorse tools though (wire nuts and all)! LOL! But these new cordless tools, Milwaukee and others are the future and they work great! Feels great not to be tethered to a power cord or air hose!

No the mounting bolts backed out easily but I meant getting the alternator out of the engine bay itself was a pain in the ass.

Thanks! And yes right down the street at OReillys, luckily they had one left in their inventory. Saved a lot of time.

Yeah taking out the battery was key, but that shroud had me confused for a second as well. Didn’t realize there were 2 bolts so a few curse words may have been uttered as I tried to figure out wtf was going on, lol

I just sold one of my kids 2006 V6 Mariner (i.e. Escape) and that one requires removing passenger front axle and working top side and bottom side to shimmy out the alternator under the rear side of engine. The only shortcut is removing cab mount bolts to pry a gap on the frame. Dumbest design I have ever seen. Takes longer than a needle bearing/clamshell bushing swap on a Tacoma. Needless to say after the 3rd alternator (warranty job done free by shop) I was glad to sell that Ford. Makes you appreciate something simple like a Tacoma to work on.
When step 1 in Haynes manual, for an alternator, says remove passenger front tire, you know you have a crap job coming.

Way to go Boco10! 300k miles and counting, impressive.
I replaced my cabin air filter; with 125k trouble-free miles, this baby should have a long, happy life

I had 2 mid 90's LT1 Z28's. Just changing spark plugs required around 14 band-aids. That was cake compared to the stupid Ford alternator. They just don't want people doing their own repairs. Through it all I have had Tacomas that helped keep me sane. Well somewhat sane.

Good to know! Yeah the corded drill (with a repaired cord) I may have bought in 1985 when I bought the house. That's true re: battery technology, it's getting better. I have at least 2 old 2-stroke gas weed whackers in the garage that won't start. I've fooled with the carburetors with no luck. I do need to look into the Milwaukee products. You get what you pay for, my Harbor Freight cordless drill batteries go dead no matter what after a few weeks. Not the case with a decent Lowes (Cobalt?) drill I have.

I've also got an O'Reillys close by. Kind of new to this area, I've heard good things about them.

Finally got to putting in a proper oem style dual switch for my light bar and fogs. Used to have the generic little red switch that comes with the lights just hanging out of the switch area, now it looks clean!!

Oil change and a drain and fill on the tranny. Installed a Spiker Engineering hood strut kit. Wasn't difficult at all and works great. Installed the pvc mod on the spare tire winch and flipped my spare. Holy crap... what a difference that piece of pvc makes! Finished up with a wash and wax, now ready she's ready for a trip to the beach!

I got into car audio even before I got my license back in the late 80s, so I’ve upgraded nearly every vehicle I’ve owned, and a quality subwoofer is a must. I’m partial to JL Audio, as I’ve now had their enclosures in my Tacoma as well as the F250 I used to own. Because I’m in an RC, I went with their powered 10” model with remote volume control. I really need to add some damping* material as I have some vibrations, but overall, I feel like this is my best system yet, and it’s one of my simplest.

*yes the correct term is damping…I’m not trying to get things wet with dampening!
