I have a 2022 Tacoma TRD SPORT and I’m trying to make it the best truck i can with the most extras that it didn’t have when i bought it off the lot.

my question is the front grille has a place for the front camera to be at but it just has a placement cap in the spot there. Can i just buy the front camera and just plug it in? How easy is it and what does it consist of?

I'm not sure it will work out very well. Reason being, people who bought the TRD OR or Sport and swapped the grille had issues with the camera system height and alignment (to merge the cameras together on screen). Not sure your headunit would even have the firmware to display the camera.

I often feel like it's a handicap compared to aftermarket systems anyways. Nobody has found a way to do an anytime mod for the stock 360° camera. I would opt to go for aftermarket as you won't be as limited.

im not that concerned about 360(although that would be cool) but just so i could see in front of me for park assist or for if im off-roading and want to have a better idea of what my approach looks like..

Either way, i just wanted to get feedback on the idea.

When you say aftermarket, what would you suggest to substitute for something like that?

I haven't looked at any aftermarket solution since I have the stock 360° setup so I wouldn't know where to begin on that. But I'm sure there are a few threads that discuss options.
