Thanks everyone. I was pressed for time so I couldn't do a full bleed job, but it's now on the agenda ASAP.

I bled that corner but it still feels pretty spongy, probably just need to do the whole thing the right way. I got the seal back in place and the ring around it, seems to be leak free so far, but only one test drive.

Thanks again for all the advice!

Ive always had multiple vehicles to work on, and i absolutely swear by a manual vacuum pump one man brake bleeder, and have never had any issues with messing up any ABS systems on Toyotas, BMWs or Volvos.

Cant get the link to copy, but I use the Griot's Garage Multi-Fluid Extractor.
A bit pricey, but mine has long since payed for itself in relieved aggravation (VERY easy to use!)

If you still have spongy brakes why would you drive it with those brakes. Maybe your relying on the pole stopping you or another car? Brakes are the most important item to work. Also why turn your rotors when new ones aren’t that much more.

If you ever let the master go empty, or had to replace the master, that's when ABS can become a challenge.

OP, next time compress the caliper pistons using the old pads and a couple of screwdrivers before removing the caliper.

I had the same brake fluid for 15 years in my tundra before flushing, and it was still looked decent, and i did quite a bit of towing. I think when it comes to brakes everyone whats to air on the side of safety.

@zoo truck Respects...but I've been turning wrenches and chasing wires professionally for almost 50 years now...and still do. I can give you thousands of first hand stories that contradict your luck. Please be careful comforting complacency when it comes to safety.

you want me to tow it to the shop?

i drove it slowly around the block, did multiple tests. They still work, just not ideal. I will do a full flush.
