P11F1 Error Code - Anybody ran into this (on a 2019 TRD OR 6MT)?

So just just to follow up....I wound up taking the truck back to the dealership. This time an additional code of P1605 was also indicated along with P11F0. The technician determined that there was possibly an issue with the fuel pump used as the replacement. They dropped the tank and replaced the pump with another one. The codes were cleared and they have not come back on so far. I'm not holding my breath but at least there has been no charge so far.

 

@Lionfishtaco thanks for the update. I’m still getting my p11f0 code randomly at an idle. Maybe the fuel pump should be next, god knows I’m too stubborn to go to the dealership. Haha.

@Lionfishtaco did that fuel pump end up clearing up your code? Or did you keep having to chase that P11F0 code?

 

I was hoping the 2nd fuel pump change would clear it up but it just threw the se P11F0 code again...back to the drawing board...possibilities include the plug, injector, oxygen sensor, vacuum or exhaust leak, or a fuel/air sensor issue.... I'll probably start with a plug then try an injector.

Any updates on this. I've been getting the p11f0 CEL for about a month now. Changed the plugs and it didn't help.

I had Cylinder 3 giving me the “Air/Fuel ratio imbalance (port)” CEL code only 2 weeks after I bought the truck. The dealership I bought the truck from replaced the port fuel injector. 1 week later, the same CEL code popped up.

2nd time I brought it in to the dealership, they ran a compression test and it showed Cylinder 3 having super low compression. They suggested a completely new cylinder head. They quoted me around $6k. I bought this truck used so I did some digging and found the previous owner and even their mechanic. They mentioned that truck had some undisclosed issues.

The dealership I bought it from ended up replacing the whole engine at their cost and since then I have had no issues.

 

Well the code is now staying on constantly but there are still no symptoms while driving. Another thread had indicated that it is likely a valve/head problem and should be covered under the power train warranty. I'm still under the limit at 42000 miles so it looks like I'll be headed to the dealership.

 

Just to give a follow up final resolution to my issue with code P11F0 triggering my check engine light. After 2 fuel pump replacements and running carbon cleaner through my gas tank and air intake numerous times, the engine light appeared again with the same code. My truck is currently sitting at 46000 miles and out of the bumper to bumper warranty but still within the power train warranty parameters. I went back to the dealership for another assessment to which they initially said they would like to start by replacing the #5 cylinder fuel injector for $900 which would not be covered due to it being classified as an electrical issue and not a powertrain problem. The dealership was pretty agreeable when I told them that I didn't think that was the true cause and I asked for them to perform a compression test. They performed a leak down test and determined that cylinder #5 was leaking through the exhaust valve. They were able to get permission from Toyota to replace the right side cylinder head, #5 cylinder piston and valves, as well as all of the remaining valve seals. This was performed under the powertrain warranty free of charge. The entire process took nearly a month between diagnosis, obtaining permission from Toyota, ordering parts, and performing the work. I just picked my truck up yesterday and no codes so far. Hopefully it will last!

 

Same trouble here with a 2019 SR5 with 49K miles. Truck currently at dealership for cylinder head replacement ( code P11EC - #1 cylinder fuel/air ratio imbalance). Hopefully I can add on to the power train warranty but I don’t know if Toyota will do that. If not I am seriously considering getting rid of it. It’s a real shame. Love the truck but disappointed in the brand now.

 

Just had this happen to the 2019 OR I bought with 21 miles new from the dealer. This is so disappointing that Toyota quality is going downhill. It’s been a week since the dealer ordered the parts and just waiting for a call that the job is done. should I ask for in the parts list of replaced?

 

Yeah! I think that'd be helpful for others which run into this or issue and would prefer an alternative shop than going to the dealers

 

Toyota really needs to do a recall for this. Will they ?

 

I’m looking at replacing the Tacoma now with a 2012 manual double cab v6 one owner. My soon to be ex wife wants the 2019 and I lost confidence in the truck after this last dilemma with the engine. It has a bunch of tech but this fragility on the engine that has been cared for never towed once or ran hard has me so disappointed that I’ll not go back to the 3rd gen taco ever again.

 

Here is the full parts list if your truck decides to take a dump with that code I got! So I’m letting the ex wife have it and I’ll get my second gen Tacoma and be better off both ways! Beware I had a extended warranty that I paid $1200 for and looks like it saved my butt in the long run.

 

Oh and I forgot to mention my truck was out of warranty at 67,700 miles when this issue occurred. I would be very hesitant to buy another 3rd gen period even used.
