Just starting out, give me time
So I've come to the conclusion that this mod is probably not worth the power consumption from my 4x50 kicker amp if this is taking some of that power along with my kicker 3way front door speaker. Those speakers max out at 200watts, so I'm guessing they are only getting maybe 25-30watts. The other 100watts Is going to the back kicker door speakers. Has anybody just unhooked the tweets in the dash and just ran the better door speakers, I would think this would sound 100% better and save you $100 from not buying these tweeters. I'm just spitballing right now, I do have these and really thought there was no real change for the price and time it takes for this. Maybe if you have a dedicated amp to run these separately from others, than maybe sound better, but as is not even close the power they need to sing.

Just upgraded to the Subaru tweeters this afternoon, and I can definitely hear a difference. Had to readjust my treble / mid settings, but it's absolutely more clear. Rear speakers still suck ass, but I'll be addressing those soon.

Just did this today. Huge difference in both volume and quality of treble. Actually had to drop the treble on the EQ a couple notches afterward. I have auto headlights, so the passenger grill / trim has the sensor in it... easy to unplug if you have it, just be mindful of it and don't go yanking the trim out without removing it. Thanks OP!

Nice writeup and easy enough to do. Biggest challenge for me was the front bolt on the passenger side. Somehow managed to get the socket on there but then couldn't get it off. Should that happen to you there's a bit of play in the dash... just press down on it and the socket will come off. Switched to a 10mm box wrench after that.

Sounded decent in my driveway test... will drive somewhere later to get the real feel.

    working on it... :-)
Took a little bit longer than I expected, but WOW! a very noticeable improvement in overall sound quality. Everything is cleaner & clearer. Like many, I had to dial down treble a couple clicks afterwards. Absolutely worth the minor investment of cash & time. Thanks to OP for this upgrade suggestion.

I went ahead and added the Kicker speakers in the front doors too. MUCH much better but now the rears are totally overwhelmed by the front upgrades. Looks like i'll be doing the rear door speakers shortly.

Just installed these and they make a huge difference! My only concern is that the connectors didn’t “click” into place like the did with the stock tweeters. Anybody think this will be an issue later with all the vibrations the tweeters produce?

Without reading every single post on 37 pages of this thread..

Any way to do this without having to take off the A pillars?

edit: seems like according to one video, just have to do it on the passenger side

I've heard of a guy or 2 doing it without removing the A-pillars, but mentioning that it was a bit of a PITA. Why not remove the A-pillars? It's very simple and gives you a little more room to work, even if it may not be necessary. I am not particularly experienced in stereo and speaker installations (well, not since my high school/college days 30 years ago) and it was a breeze.

I had a little of that thinking when I did mine, too. Just take your time, don't go forcing anything (pulling out or in) and you will be fine. It really is very easy.

I later had to pull mine out again when I installed a new head unit. I decided to put my mic in the OEM location and had to run the line up the A-pillar.

The first time, while installing the weeters, I did. I didn't bother when I pulled the A-pillars to run my mic line (mostly out of laziness...and I didn't think it was a big deal after having done it).

Sadly I marred the SRS tabs a little with the screw driver. Hardly noticeable but I know it’s there lol. Didn’t have airbags blow up in my face as well which is nice.
Can’t tell if the passenger side was a little more raised or if there’s a small gap now from where that sensor is next to the tweeter.

Hey Everyone! Wanted to update this post as I just updated the plug-and-play speakers I used originally for a more affordable and dramatically better DS18 speaker set that is also plug-and-play. I am updating the original post with these details as well and here is a video I made on the install.
