Ethanol has been added for years, the oil company’s also change blends for season. I guess ethanol(corn) is less expensive and we all know oil company’s want high profits

If I run 87 octane I get about 22/23mpg. If I use the high dollar non ethanol and hit the highway I get better mpg, not alot so it's not worth it

Recall back in the day when amoco gasoline was around, they had a clear gasoline. Haven't seen that since the 70's.

4 Toyota truck all 400k miles plus. Each ran on 87 with 10% ethanol, all still had original engine components and fuel system components. Apparently it’s not hard on the parts.

Non ethanol gas is .20 to .30 Cents more in Oregon and easy to find. Some stations have 115/130 octane gas for boats and high compression engines.

Actually, in Canada, companies are forced to add ethanol as a regulation. This in not for profit, it is to consume more renewable energy and reject less emissions.

    Benefits
    Environmental
Ethanol is a renewable fuel because it is produced from biomass. Ethanol also burns more cleanly and completely than gasoline or diesel fuel.

Ethanol reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions because the grain or other biomass used to make the ethanol absorbs carbon dioxide as it grows. Although the conversion of the biomass to ethanol and the burning of the ethanol produce emissions, the net effect can be a large reduction in GHG emissions compared with fossil fuels such as gasoline. The reduction depends on the feedstock and the production processes used to make ethanol.

Low-blend ethanol from corn produces about 3 to 4 percent fewer greenhouse gas emissions than gasoline. Low-blend made from wood or agricultural cellulosic materials would produce 6 to 8 percent fewer emissions compared with gasoline.

I did and I saw, but your site is reporting what people believe to be something. I’m just saying the laws in Canada are requiring a minimum blend. I don’t know what the arrangements with the oil companies are, maybe they can sell some non-ethanol gasoline, as long as they sell more ethanol blend gasoline so that their yearly totals equates 5%?

I think ethanol gas is crap with no benefits . Green house gas is a fake also. The last huge forest fire in oregon was Sept,2020 and it put more CO2 into the air than cars do. California has huge fires every year. That is just my opinion.

Its big corn is/was driving ethanol not oil companies. It costs more to add ethanol, but becomes cheaper due to government subsidies. But now it’s mandatory in many states it’s actually more expensive for ethanol free at the pump because it’s sold in a lot lower volume.

Well the E10 fuels here i think have some benefit keeping the fuel system cleaner. As far as anything else its not needed....at least where i am.

When you are stating something that is 100% verifiably wrong, contradicted by every credible science in the field, you don't have to say "This is just my opinion." Everyone knows you are just making shit up.

Believe what you want and so well i. We had hot summers and cold winters and cold summers and warm winters. I see nothing has changed. I have heard the science community say there is global warming and its all fake.

Post up some of this 'verifiable credible science' then.

If you have a vehicle made in the 1970's or older 10% ethanol MIGHT damage some components after a few hundred thousand miles. But everything made in the last 40 years is designed to work with ethanol. And Ethanol has been used in gas for over 100 years. It started in the 1920's and was extremely popular during the 1940's due to gas shortages during WW-2.

Whether it is economically feasible or not I can't say. I don't know enough about it. I can say that the 100% gas I've used didn't improve fuel mileage or performance at all. I might pay a premium for higher octane, especially when towing. But E 10 gas works just fine for me

Global warming is very much real. Whether it is man-made or not might be debatable. But it doesn't hurt anything to reduce the crap in our air. Anyone who lived during the 1960's and 70's can verify that air pollution in large cities was MUCH worse than today. Cleaner emissions from cars are a huge part of that.

In 2007, I had to replace the entire fuel system in my '99 GMC due to ethanol.
I remember going to the waterpark by the 91 in California(80s) and my lungs hurting by the end of the day.
IMO, the way ethanol is/was mandated...the ends don't justify the means. If clean air truly mattered to the public, the market could/should decide.
