vF Tuner installation guide & FAQ

Yea restarted, connect the cable to the car. Then tried it without connecting to the car. Had the car on accessory, had the car off. Still nothing.

 

You don't need to be plugged into your vehicle if you are just setting up the software. Just have the adapter plugged into the computer.

 

if this was me i would get Revo uninstaller and completely uninstall vF, restart your box and install the latest fresh. then restart and go again.

 

OVT / vF only installed into a couple folders:

C:\Program Files (x86)\VF Tuner or C:\Program Files (x86)\VF Tuner Pro, if you have the Pro upgrade.

And:

C:\Users\ [your user account] \AppData\Roaming\EcuEdit

 

yea I have it in the first folder. Im still getting the same error message

 

That was not the point of the post. Sorry. If you uninstalled to start fresh, both of those folders should be gone. If either exist, delete them, then re-install vF. From there, plug in your Tactrix (with a WL xxxx Serial Number, right?) and launch the program.

If that does not work, then you need to ping vF Tuner.


If your Tactrix has a TA xxxx Serial Number, you may need to contact vF Tuner regardless.

Exactly. It is just a matter of punching a few buttons after the software is set up. The new licensing scheme is truly plug and play.

Sooo this might be a little off topic, and apologies if it is, but thought this would be as good a spot as any to ask…
- How would I go about tuning a friends truck, or can he use my tuner?
- Would he buy the tune?

There is literally no one within 5 hours drive that does tuning for Toyotas and I am sure there are others who would want to get tuned. I am not looking to make tunes, just possibly help those who want premade ones…
- What is involved with the pro tuners I see on FB?
- Is it a legit need to get licenced?

you need the upgrade to vf pro and then you need whatever tunes you desire to use (either for a cost or per truck royalty)

 

If you have four Credits remaining on your account, you can Unlock your friend's VIN and flash him up.

If you don't have Credits, your friend can contact vF Tuner and buy a Software Only License (about $229?) that will get him four Credits. Verify that he can use your Tactrix (Serial Number) to connect and flash as the Tactrix SN is tied to accounts now was the main licensing tool.


Pro Tuners buy the Pro Tuner Upgrade ($1,250) which basically allows us to purchase Credits. It is very much necessary to Unlock VINs.

Once a VIN is Unlocked, anyone with vF Tuner can flash them any number of times.
