I guess, but the Boeing that built the 747 would have been up far earlier and with far fewer issues.

Considering that Spacex had no prior experience as a company doing this and Boeing has literally decades of it one would think it would be the other way around which makes it even more remarkable but this is why NASA has started soliciting from a wider field.

About par for the Boeing that built the 737 MAX.

Edit- The people who died in 737 crashes were needlessly killed. One can only blame corporate careless, greed and oversight negligence. I hope the same fate doesn’t fall on any Starliner occupants.

Hopefully not the same process or priorities at least. They may have swung the pendulum the other way but it’s impossible to tell without transparency. All we see are outcomes not what brought them about. The FAA was way to cavalier with Boeing on that one. It seems Spacex is paying that price instead.

Orbital dynamics are the most interesting thing to me. And the most baffling hahaha

Yes, and the Orion and Starship missions going to Gateway.

If you read the Capstone mission profile, it will be taking multiple orbits around Earth to raise its apogee until it crosses over to the moon’s sphere of influence. Orion and Starliner won’t need to do that.

No, because Orion and Starship will have the needed DV to cross over.

One chemist did a study and found the materials available to pour them would work and the small sample they were allowed matched. They said they wouldn't be able to get any more definitive results though unless the Egyptian Authorities allowed them a larger sample.

Speaking of KSP .. do you think Boeing's problem is that they need more struts?

Haha I should have been more clear. The rectilinear halo orbit baffles me. Ive done a lot of informal studying of orbital dynamics since around 2010 when I first started paying attention to SpaceX, but I will have to stare at a RHO simulation for at least 10 more hours to let it sink in lol

It’s the use of ‘rectilinear’. Leave it out when you’re trying to understand it- it’ll make it easier.
