Because you sound like you know what you're on about and doing it the smart way which is pretty rare for people doing swaps on here.

Definitely not my first rodeo but I am no expert. I am just a guy who likes to build cool things. This was a 1KZ-TE turbo diesel that I put into my 94 4runner. Figured I'd step it up a notch on this build. 20180916_152652.jpg

Early 2nd gen Tundras did have the 4.0 V6 as an option and Toyota did a one off 3UR-Fe in a Tacoma (X-Runner SEMA thingy from about 15 years ago). There is an article floating around on the internet about the mechanics of the swap. IIRC the engine did physically fit in the bay.

I would be lying if I said I have never had my Tundra and Tacoma next to each other with the hoods up and a tape measure in my hand. :D

Yeah I do recall that also. Additionally there is a guy by the name of Whipbash on here and youtube that managed to put a 3ur into his double cab. I don't like the fact it barely fit and he decided to move the cab back like 4 inches. I want this build to be clean and look like factory. Props to that guy for going big tho.

There are a couple of sc’rs for this particular engine (as far as I can remember) I’ve toyed with the idea of adding a blower to my GX 460. now that HP tuners has opened the door to tuning more options might be available. RRRacing in the US tried to get some interest once upon a time.

Yeah I am going to be running 33s and yes I was thinking to regear to 4.30 with the six speed will be perfect. Fun fact, the Tacoma curb weight is 1000 lbs less than gx460. This tacoma should get up and go pretty good.

The UR is a big bitch for sure. Tall and wide, it even looks pretty big in the bay of a Tundra. Then again the GR is not a petite engine either. LS swaps look tiny in Tacoma engine bays in comparison.

When you’re successful I hope your work leads to a kit we can all buy and do this at home.

The XAT supercharger is phase two of this build. Correct me if I am wrong but I was under the impression that HP tuners didn't support the 4.6. I did see the OV tunes does have a tuning solution for it though.

Probably need to use the V8 ECM and wire it to your truck, keeping everything else Tacoma.

Thats the game plan, I think most problems will be figuring out the fuse box.
