Toyota Stalking, er...um, SPOTTING with Charlie™ (Hilux/Truck and T-100 Edition)!

This camper had two of these cheap Audiovox stereo cassettes; The one in the cab works, but will not turn on due to a yet-to-be-diagnosed electrical problem within the vehicle. As stated above, the one in the cab will likely be replaced with something that has Bluetooth, and I'd imagine that after nearly 40 years the speakers don't sound too good...

Rooftop A/C for the living quarters was of course optional, and it could be very easily added to this vehicle, but it does not have A/C; The owner has no desire to add A/C because she rarely visits areas where it gets particularly hot (though it was in 90s on the day of the show and quite toasty inside the camper)...

 

There's one of these nifty dolphin campers on the back of a mid to late seventies Toyota two-wheel drive pickup in the neighborhood that I work in. Old lady owns the home and this thing is in pristine condition but never moves. One day I'm just going to go by and knock on the door and see if 8K buys it. I don't need it and I probably wouldn't use it but I think my parents would like it so I'd probably gift it to them.

 

This fridge is cooled by propane!

The venerable 22R-E; With less than 61K miles on the clock, this engine has probably 500K more miles left in it, but in terms of performance it performs just like you'd expect a camper with a 116hp 4-banger under the hood to perform...



The owner told me that she avoids highways if she can; She wishes the camper had a manual transmission, but the price was just too good to pass up. Needless to say, acceleration is leisurely to say the least, and at high altitudes the overdrive ceases to operate...

 

The A/C was retrofitted to R134a...

 

I assure you that the camper was very clean and smelled normal; I don't even think the woman smoked...

 

The leisurely accelerate is what led to the owner naming her beloved camper "Mosey"; She had the spare tire cover custom made...

 

About the only modern upgrade this camper has is a backup camera, which the owner had installed shortly after buying it...
