I have come to believe that Uniroyal Tiger Paws are the worst name brand tire known to man.

A nearby place sold them "blemished" -- thousands of them, at a time every low budget car dealer around had new Tiger Paws on every shiny clunker on the lot.

They wore like iron -- because the tread was hard as iron -- gripped and rode just as poorly as a tire made of iron too. Every turn in a parking lot squealed like a car chase in The Rockford Files - it was actually embarrassing.

The seam is going to be the bug-a-boo, that is always where camper roof trouble starts. (and around the vents)

We have 2 vents, the A/C, and a bubble above the shower so your head don't hit the roof. I figure if we have all those possible leak places to contend with, what's a few more

At my way back job we had a fellow we referred commonly to as "the big dummy" -- because he was:
    1) big
    and
    2) dumb...

He often got on political inspired rampages  which invariably ended with him shouting at someone:
"I KNOW IT"S TRUE, I READ IT ON THE INTERNET!!!"

Yes, this is a true story, there are people out there that dumb, and they breed too...:pout:

You might talk to a RV/camper dealership and ask if they have the rubber roof material available. My grandfather redid an RV roof and got a remnant of a roll for cheap and it was just the length he needed.

I will say even today's cheap tires are still better than most of the name brand tires back 20-30 years ago...

I threw a set of Mastercraft's on the Talon when I bought it. I actually liked them.

The Coopers I put on the 2nd gen are pretty nice, they just don't ride as well as the worn out Michelin's that were on there. However that's to be expected as the Coopers are a bit more aggressive.

The factory Goodyear's on the 3rd gen are getting pretty thin at 18K. This will be the last winter for them...

Sounds like my coworker, I've told him more than once he needs to stop watching the news. Last time his response was "I don't watch it, I get it from a reputable source"

I don't want to go back with rubber, would rather not have to deal with what I'm dealing with now because of failed rubber roof.

Mastercraft is under the Cooper umbrella.
Most of the tires I have had in the past 30 years or so have been Cooper or related, no real problems other than the inevitable up here dirt road damage.

Rockford Files ... there's a fond childhood favorite show. I recently read that James Garner did most of this stunt driving. Don't know if true, but it's believeable for me. American screen icons who were still real men.

Yes it is true. James Garner was also a professional racing driver and indeed did almost all of the driving in Rockford.

The Firebird was his personal choice for the role. It was a top spec Formula (455 V8) package performance model dressed down as a base model.

    Best TV series ever! :)

Can you, or do you know someone who can fold a standing seam into the 5x10 material? Running the 5x10 panels lengthwise across, using a standing seam, and with a 90 bend on each end to overhand the sides is about the only way I can think of, but you're still going to require some fasteners to penetrate the sheet UNLESS you put tabs on the roof cross members and fold those into the standing seam which, I suspect might get involve and expensive. If it were me, I'd pay the $1K for the aluminum.

I thought about a standing seam, I think my buddy can bend it, I told him I'd talk to him more when I figure out what I want to do. The aluminum I found is out of stock, didn't dig real deep though when I saw the price.
