Just a thought, trying to avoid removing the back section of the roof...

If you were to hammer everything back flat one wonders how shy would you be of making that seam closed? Would it be possible to hammer all creases flat, self tap some thin aluminum in place to bridge that gap and then seal the entire section and all seams that were effected in a butyl rubber sealant. Quality butyl water will not penetrate. Plus its lightweight relative to aluminum. The weight of putting a sheet of thin metal up there would scare me*without other support, along with still having a seam right in the middle.

I've got to take most of the siding off where I damaged it, the rotten lumber has to come out. It's a lot worse than I could ever of imagined.

A man walks into a psychologist's office wrapped head to toe in Saran Wrap...

The psychologist takes one look at him and says, "I can clearly see your nuts."

This is a repeat job and the paint burning eventually burns my eyes. Boss man got some swimming goggles to help prevent that. I just got them out, my goodness they don’t fit me even after adjusting them so I marked the box accordingly.

We always used this stuff or something similar on our barn roofs and it did a good job of sealing the seams/nail heads/nail holes.

I used that on our old camper, it had an aluminum roof. I also covered the whole underneath and sides of my jon boat with it about 20 years ago :D
