Kicker ks 3rd gen

So I just got my ks 3-way door speakers and noticed the 6x9's come with what looks like a separate crossover board bundled in heat shrink. I have the Subaru tweeters, is this something I will need to wire in ? The direction don't even mention them?

Are you talking about the back of the kicker speaker? If so there’s nothing you need to wire in, just connect them.
I just changed mine, got them at crutchfield and they came with the brackets and plug in connectors. Pretty easy.

 

So I called crutchfield tech and the kid didn't know what I was talking about at first then he was reading through his notes and it stated it must be hooked up or it could possibly damage tweeters if not. Why wouldn't any of this be in the directions is behind me. Maybe I should call kicker direct. Not sure if it's a KS series issue apposed to the CS. Thoughts?

 

Just got off the phone with kicker and they highly recommend using them. They said the CS series 6x9 3-ways don't use them.

 

Every together but not expressed with the sound, sounds more muffled then stock did. I'm sure it will take more power before they live up to their potential. So I have an audio pipe 1600w 5ch. And kicker 10" enclosure for behind rear seat. I pulled these out of my 2015 after totaled by deer in December. I had everything behind the rear seats on it but would rather go a different route on my 2020 to maintain storage space. Should I go with a kicker 200.4 and powered sub under front seat and sell old ? Should I reuse my old amp and get an enclosed sub that will fit under seat ? Thoughts ?

Correct me if I’m wrong @destin_meeks , I believe destin_meeks is referring to a component subwoofer and box. What you are referring to is a powered subwoofer. I believe I’ve seen people putting a Kicker 8” powered sub under the passenger seat.

the kicker hideaway and similar super-thin powered subs will fit.
A typical sub/box like your previous setup will not.
The sub/box behind the seat will sound drastically better. That audiopipe amp is probably gigantic though

you can do either route.
-Big amp, real sub, more wiring involved
-key 200.4, powered sub. Still much better sound than stock, but it what you’d get from the first option. But an easier install

 

I just did all door speakers and went with the cerwin Vega powered sub behind the seat. Huge difference over stock, and perfect for me. I’m actually impressed with this slim sub, has a little punch to it. If you’re looking for some real thump it’s going to be underwhelming. I just didn’t want to spend a ton and lose storage.

 

Yeah, I would need a sunroof to get my old sub under front seat. I wish I knew someone with a hide away sub I could listen to o.

 

I wired in the cross overs and it sounds great. I have KS kickers for all speakers now.

 

Bringing up an old thread.

But looking to install KS speakers for the front doors and tweeters and want to double check before I open things up. Did you wire up the crossovers for both the doors and tweeters?

Sorry. Just saw this. I did for the doors. I don’t remember for the tweeters. However, if it came from the kit, I wired everything. Sorry not more helpful
