You're a real dick if you actually want to see any of the people that make up your country, community, friends, family, etc. just suck it up when they lose %9+ of their savings or take a big hit to their quality of life. All so that you can continue pretending the economy is fine just because you have enough money it hasn't negatively effected you in a significant way yet, and thinking otherwise would hurt your ego too much

Well, as long as I was winning the argument.

Uh, this is certainly not something I desire, but it is something we all must manage. It cannot be undone.

This is a really weird exchange. I'm essentially making the argument "Yes, some things do look bad, but people are resilient, they have coping skills, and they are not stupid. I believe we're going to make it through this ok, and possibly with less pain than people are expecting."

To which the majority seems to be replying:

"No, it's all gonna burn. Dick."

It seems to me if anyone here wants to see those around them suffer, it's all the doomsayers.

Believe me, my ego isn't at play here at all. It is my sincere hope that these discussions, with me as Devil's Advocate (apparently), give people some food for thought or help them identify opportunities they may not have otherwise thought of. And yes, I enjoy the exchange, so it's a fun way to pass parts of the day.

Oh really, you have some expertise on my money? Do tell, how much do I have?

Playing Devil's Advocate is not only fine. It's needed. There's more then a few of us here that are old enough to realize ebb and flow is a natural part of the economy. For 13 years we've had the Fed hucking money at the problem. IMO, the real problem is the FED hucking money at the problem. Then fumbling the ball in regards to tightening. They should have started fiscal tightening in 2014. They didn't.

Then COVID comes along and real free money gets thrown around. And lots of it. From March 2020 to November 2021 the NASDAQ doubled. That's not normal, not natural and not sustainable. We'll get our pull back to 10K. Then the uptrend will resume. Hopefully without the FED fumbling any more balls. At least they finally admitted inflation isn't transitory. lol

 

Yea don't get me wrong i like reading many of your posts, there's usually good info and ideas. Butttttttttt anytime you receive criticism or disagreement on em you immediately pull out the 'i got mine rest of yall can suck it' card or start asking for facts n sources n shit as if you ever provided any to begin with.
And you say you don't desire all that but you made like 6 pages of posts in support of it

 

Please quote a post where I've said "I got mine rest of ya'll can suck it" or have asked for sources.

I'm going to be quite blunt: Asking for counterarguments or a thesis explanation instead of a meme image is neither of those things.

Sources go a long way in proving an argument. He's fairly well versed in the economy from my interactions with him here. If you can provide source to back a claim I'm pretty sure he'd validate that claim more readily then "trust me bro". People that prepare for the eventual downturns do well because they prepared. Those that don't prepare usually get beat down pretty well. It's Darwinism. Don't take the I got mine stuff to heart. It just means he is older, prepared better and was successful to get his. I'd be you $1000 that the 45 year old you re-reads his posts and agrees with them. I should still be alive by then. Bet?
