that one day off is a short turnaround, that has to be tough. Peppering in OT then the days off in between get fewer and fewer which means more and more tired lol. We work a hybrid of the Dupont schedule with a 6 crew 6 week rotation, but also have 8 hour shifts we sometimes work. The bonus being 8 hours fly by when you're used to 12, and they are easy shifts (0500-1300 or 1300-2100). I also have a hard time adjusting back to days, I use melatonin gummies but they give me weird dreams. Or maybe I would have already had the weird dreams anyhow but I can blame it on that

Switching to nights is easy, it's the other way around that sucks. You either have to hulk up and be tired a whole day on the last night shift or bite the bullet and sleep and waste the day. There's no good in between I've found, other than hitting the lottery and retiring.

HAHA, it's those times where you go make yourself busy in a spot that's not easy to find and an area with no pager. I spend quite a few nights at work inspecting the inside of my eyelids.

With hot weather and age comes failing AC parts!! Today's project was repairing the dried out AC blower motor running cap, reading a bit lower than rated causing my motor to intermittently stall. $25 DIY, much cheaper than getting raped by one of those big named companies like Horizon. Use your brain, not your wallet :)

I just wish I could have 3phase motors at the house. I hate dealing with single phase motors, which are just 3phase anyway but with the added pain in the ass of capacitors!

they would last longer and be more efficient. The amount you’d pay the utility for a 3 phase service would more than make up for that cost though. You could always get a VFD, but you’d need a pretty big single phase supply breaker to power a 3 phase AC compressor.

5 hours of driving and not one other taco until I got to my first of two stops(does the one in the drive way count? Cause then it’s 2).

    Sheesh.
    Made for a dull ride.
    didn’t even take pictures

Not even available in my area for 3 phase. I'm just so used to it at work doing home electrical work is an entirely different mindset. I've recommended those single phase to 3 phase vfds for some of the Amish butcher shops that Jarvis sells equipment to. They're way cheaper than putting in a phase converter or a 3 phase generator.

Just had the same thing happen on my condenser. Cap went out Saturday night and couldn’t get a replacement until Monday. Also, Horizon is a shitty company that will go out of their way to make you buy a new HVAC system just to meet their “quotas”
