Loving this damn tune. So much better than effin stock. After some exhaust mods I think I’m finally getting to a spot where I can stop messing with this damn thing haha.

Okay just loaded KDMAX-PRO+XT Yesterday. Only have a few miles on it. I don't want to jump the gun here, but I'm feeling pretty darn excited about this tune so far. First impressions are this is the best damn tune I have tried to date. I don't feel like man it drives better but??? I wish this or that.
I feel like shit this Truck is F-ing driving great! I tested it up a Huge hill with a 40mph speed limit and it stayed in a higher gear and never shifted down. When I punched it a little more it just grunted and moved without shifting. Then I floored it and it shifted down but not to the usual screach my engine till it cries sound but to a good low grunt I'm moving my ass up this hill without complaining like a bitch sound. I'm running light tip in and it shifts through the range like Butta! Like I said right now I'm in the honeymoon phase so I will drive it some more and report back. I haven't seen alot of feed back yet on this forum so I thought I would chime in about the +XT Tune. KDMAX continues to impress me with every new optimization. As we all know tuning these 3rd Gen Tacomas has been a long haul with much participation within the tuning community. I am glad I initially purchased the dongle and tune pack from OVTune in the beginning as it is much more economical in the long run to load tunes into my own truck. Little did I know in the beginning that it would take this long to finally get there but here I am and it feels great. Thank you KDMAX for your exemplary customer service and professionalism.

 

I REALLY like my KDMax Pro tune and its going to be hard to beat, but I have to check out this XT option! Kreg sent me files so that I can have one throttle tip-in when I'm normally in D and a second throttle tip-in when I hit the ECT button.
Just need to decide if it is Normal/Sport or Lite/Normal setup.

Kreg makes it easy to do business with him!

 

I had a pleasant experience on Kdmax Pro Sport on the last long trip.
Had a 360 mile round trip over passes last weekend. No refueling. Came home with 55 miles range remaining.(21.2 tank average).
The tune did well on passes both ways. There were some minor things, but were dealt with S4 mode (typical issues across many tunes i have).
Yesterday I loaded xt sport and drove about 40 miles and it seems there are more beans.

 

@Phich upgraded me Monday from Pro Sport to the new Pro+XT Normal. Not too many miles on it since the new tune but already I see a big improvement over the Pro. The extra torque is noticeable. Much smoother acceleration and power from a stop and hills you really can tell the difference. Holds speed and gear better on them hills. As always excellent service and experience from Phich. Highly recommend upgrading if you can.

 

Loaded XT on last night….. the second I pulled out of my driveway, I knew this was different. If I had to choose one word- “snappy”. Felt the torque instantly. Held power up the hills. Early on in the tune, but so far I love it.
Dave & Kreg strike again! Idk how you guys keep getting more out of these 3g’s.

You might need to update to the latest version.

 

Yup, go to their website and download a new installer. I was getting the same message and the auto-update inside the app didn't work for me...but downloading a new installer and reinstalling fixed it.

 

Does anybody happen to have vftuner contact information? I can’t find it on their website.

I’ve uninstalled the vftuner software on my pc and installed the latest version… but am still seeing the error message.

 

Odds are your antivirus/firewall is blocking the connection. Right on their homepage, there is a big banner at the top for customer service and then also a contact us button at the bottom right.

Just for a fun bit of information:

The KDMax 2G tunes are really picking up traction. With the transmission maps now available and edited to KDMax specifications, I've had some pretty happy 2G's in the past couple months.
Including this guy's 2009 true long travel on 35's with 4.88's. This thing was in excellent condition for a 12 year old truck that gets used!
The guy was very pleased. Smooth, strong throttle, smooth shifting, more highway power/truck stays in 5th much longer with the same "passing power" without screaming into 4th gear.
