As to what's wrong with people, I see it like this:

The world sucks and life isn't fair.
What are you going to do about it?
You can try to do your part to make things better, or you can make things worse.
These shooters take the latter course and lash out.

Personal responsibility needs to be taught.
Instead, everybody thinks they're victims of...something.

I'm old enough to remember when mass shootings were rare and still had the ability to shock people.
