Freight company says rack delivery tomorrow! I guess I know what I’m doing this weekend.

I had to open the boxes to inspect it, so I figured might as well put it on. 176026C8-1ED4-40DD-912C-CA198C1D571A.jpgIt’s a bit of a pain in the ass. The 2 bolts in middle of mounts aren’t all the way tight yet. I thought I should leave the mounts loose to make sure I could get all bolts into basket. That wasn’t necessary. I have some curved end wrenches at work so I’ll get those center bolts tight tomorrow morning.

Definitely more wind noise than my crossbar/box setup. I’m going put some round lights on the front of it so I’ll figure noise reduction after I’ve done that.

Have you been able to get out and scratch it up yet? That's the fun part after all.

Unfortunately no, but that will change in the next few weeks. I have a couple outings planned. We’ve had a fair amount of late season snow which has kept a lot of trails closed.

I pinstriped the truck pretty good when it still had the paper plates. In hindsight, I should have put a wrap on the truck but at this point I just turn up the music so I don't hear the bushes dragging down the sides. Even the glass is scratched now:censored:

I’m planning for step removal. I need to get off my ass and make sliders or just get some ordered.

All of my coworkers have had it at least once but we’ve managed to keep clear of it. Sounds like a total crap shoot for how it will go. We are all vaxed and boosted so hopefully it’s easy-ish.

gotcha re: covid - I had it and it was not too bad (vaxed and boosted), but my son and wife got it and were very sick. definitely a crap shoot.

i've been very happy with my RSG bolt-on sliders if you end up going that route.

I’ll take a look at those. Sliders, full aluminum skid set and crawl control(need to do the install) are what I would like to get to by the end of summer.

good stuff! I have RCI aluminum skids on this thing and had some on my last tacoma and they have been great. they do snag a little on rocks (less slippery than steel), but otherwise i love them.
