I listened to a guy order 21,000 Ion suspension kit for his new 80,000 dollar Bronco and he well still need tires and wheels and steering up grades. Most of the Jeep lifts run 20 K my friend who owns a off road center told me. My Taco has 2000.00 worth of Bilstein shocks and 2300.00 for tires and wheels and well go anywhere i want and most likely not break. With the SOS link i have a way out of trouble. Love many Taco 2 . The Off Road addition is the best truck i have ever owned. And i have had Power Wagons, Fords, Jeeps,Chevy trucks and a Tahoe. None of them looked as good or performed as well. Huge improvement over my last Tacoma, a 2019 sport.

I had a 74 Roadrunner with a 360 for my first car. Looked exactly like the car pictured below including the Cragar S/S wheels.
    15a5019e8541042dec2ff7b56a9da528.jpg

I paid $3K for it in 1980 and it felt like a fortune.

Loved that car but I'd hate to daily it now. It ran me $40 a week in gas when a gallon was about $0.80 back then.

In 1986 I switched to Toyota trucks and haven't had a car for a primary vehicle in years.

There are times wish I kept the ‘71 Chevelle. The ‘72 wasn’t pretty, but had a mildly built 350…blew past a cop in a 45 doing 120 at 3:00 am, thus getting my license suspended. :D

The ‘72, think I was putting new starter on it, we were kinda rednecks, if the log splitter and burn barrel was any inkling. lol!

The ‘71, just put that cowl induction hood on getting it ready for paint, and my dad wrecked it. Kind of a little twist since usually the kid that wrecks their father’s vehicle, he brought home a ‘66 Charger when he was a teen, his dad made him take it back…never had chance to have another muscle car, so I let him drive mine, then wrapped it around a tree.

The ‘85 4Runner the day I brought it home from the dealer, had 60K miles on it, clutch went out on me when I was coming up our driveway, previous owner must of rode it bunch. Lost the engine at 125K, tossed a junkyard one in. That truck was a bunch of problems, ran it to 225K, why I kept it so long who knows, and why I stuck with Toyota all these years. :notsure: Guess the Big Three seemed worse to me.

Thank you for sharing your adventures with vehicles in this life!

I appreciate stories with pics...as I'm sure others do.

The story of your dad crashing his car as opposed to the other-way-around (you) having the accident is simply a phenomenal testimony.

    Ha ha thanks.

Oh…bet I annoy some people, but I’ll read a post and it triggers a memory, and I tend to like to bullshit.

Yeah, that was a turn of events, he wasn’t paying attention or something, suddenly the car in front of him stopped, swerved and hit a tree instead. We put a new front clip on it, sold it and the ‘76 F250 I had (sorry no surviving pictures of that truck) plus with a little savings bought the ‘85 4Runner.

Growing up driving vehicles from the 60's and into the early 70's makes one appreciate the handling, ride, quickness and fuel economy of todays vehicles !

The old vehicles seem barbaric to me now, almost bought a 70s F250 for nostalgic reasons, test drove one, it brought back all kinds of memories, like how awful those vehicles really were.

I also grew up with those vehicles, if nothing else they were a lot simpler to modify the engines and tune them. I really enjoyed working on my 60's cars. You could swap engines, and tranny's from different models to others, and not break the bank doing it. Today the backyard mechanic is mostly history.

That is ok, tired of working on stuff. Just the maintenance on the dirt bike and house alone is enough to keep me busy. Always something that needs attention.

House I grew up in my dad built, plus we had a construction company, think I was born with a shovel in one hand and a hammer in the other, beyond over fussing with stuff, just want to explore as much as I can now before I can’t do it anymore.

Our 2014 VW Touareg Diesel is faster 0-60 than the olds 442 were. 6.8 sec. The muscle cars had lots of toque but wouldn’t stop worth a dam and cornered like a boat. I had l a lot of them and they were not what people think they were that never owned them. 50.000 miles and you had to rebuild the heads and carburetor and distributor and the exhaust was rusted out by then. No they won’t build them like they used to and thank God they don’t.
