If the factory offered a 4.7/6M combination that would be a sweet sounding, fun to drive truck.

If I was going to do it myself (and I'm not) a Jeep 4.0/6M would be a reliable, long lasting, easy to work on combination. Probably be nice to drive too.

nothing sounds like a V10. Probably the most incredible engine sound ever. The lambo V10 sounds amazing. The Porsche carrera GT V10 is probably the best sounding engine I have ever heard.

As for what I'd stuff in a Taco, I would say, I would be happy with the Tundra 5.7 V8. Why would I put a Chevy POS V8 in a Toyota. I'd rather have Toyota reliability over chevy junk. And they are junk. So is anything Dodge. junk.

This ^^^ is most based on reality, guessing that the T24A-FTS (279hp/317tq) will end up in the 2024 Tacoma.
That is probably the best hp/tq numbers for that truck. Plus will put it within majority of buyers reach, no crazy amounts of work or money to do it either, comes with a warranty, and finally a boxed frame with a coil sprung rear suspension.

I would like to see the diesel 1KD-FTV (170hp/302tq) coupled to a hybrid, but that will never happen.

The Volt battery is 18.4 Kwh, Electricity is $0.969 per kwh here, so about $1.75 ×2 batteries is $3.50 to drive the 60-80 km range on the battery. With gasoline, $3.50 will buy me 1.5 litres of gasoline, or about 14 kms. So to me thats "pretty much free". At work i can always run a 110v extension cord, and there are lots of lamp standards around with plugs in them in parking lots if i want to pirate electricity.

7MGTE swaps were popular enough for the pre-tacoma Toyota pickups, and I still think a nicely built one in a would be cool in a 3rd gen.

So to you free is defined as cheap or stolen.

    Got it.

Engine and shifting felt like a car and no power on the highway unless you’re revving the engine out

So like most every Toyota mid-size and mini truck…

3rd Gen cruises effortlessly on the interstate for me, can actually pass vehicles without having to ring its neck like my old Toyotas. The 22Rs trying to pass Semis were like “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, ahhhh forget it…”

    Exactly.

If anything 3rd gen is more highway friendly than 2nd gen.

Is that the Biscayne that (legend has it) was found 100' up a cliffside, stuck into the wall? I believe the story was discounted but still fun to read.
