Only if the dealer is willing to label it "certified, pre-owned"

I'm not sure they would want to put their stamp of approval on it knowing what happened.

I'd expect the complete opposite. Nearly zero documentation, "no significant damage", certified pre-owned, and a likely return warranty job they'll make money off of (again). Max profit..

    They could/should document the event.

Oh I agree completely, but what damage in particular would they document? I think they'll document the event, but it'll look like this:

did you mean for agreeing with your logic? Because, I personally feel everything, well most everything I posted, was logical in my brain. And I am sure I am not the only one that feels that way.

And now another couple off topic replies to add to the mess of pages.

They said it was all good because it was filled with oil and no light are on the dash. Must be good as new. Why would they not do a certified used car. I would almost be suspicious if a 7000 mile vehicle was not offered as certified.

To that particular quote, I was speaking to someone else. And not for agreeing with my or anyone else's points, but for arguing an opposing point of view (with logic). Respectful debate around the topic at hand, not having to be right or wrong, but finding common ground and adding to the conversation, even if someone else deems it off topic.

Dealership management folks get vehicles to drive. The local Toyota dealer I first contacted had their only Tacoma 'allocated' to the Finance Manager as his daily driver, and would not sell it unless/until they could get him another.

So you plan is actually quite sound.

    None
This tacoma will likely go to some auction if nothing else is further done.

Auction in this climate?! That's admitting there's something VERY wrong with it. No dealer, let alone a Toyota dealer, would ever send a good Tacoma to auction when there is such a shortage. Holy Smokes.

If its a shady Dealer then I can see them selling it as Certified Used, then if the engine blows in the future it will be covered under a Toyota 100K Warranty.
