The 4runner TRD pro wheels are basically perfect(width and offset) for skinny 35s if you're wanting to stay oem.

You're right, the spacers push the edge of the tire out; you gain clearance in one area but you've taken it from somewhere else. It's a balancing act of tire size, rim offsets, and I wanted to keep the OEM rims. With aftermarket rims w/correct offset for your tire choice, no spacer is likely required. I was able to get the tires I wanted w/o buying rims...only spacers at a huge savings. That was my goal and they guided me through that decision process.

Again, I'm an ignoramus. So, I can only parrot what they told me. They said the UCA's weren't ABSOLUTELY necessary now (it was new) but, would become necessary as the ball joints(?) wore with age making it more difficult to align. So, I voted for easy and planned for the future and went for the new UCA's.

I hear ya, but counter with the argument that there is no good reason to put 35” tires on a daily driver. It has too much cost and just makes you look like a poser to the minority that actually uses those tires for what they are good for

Fair enough, sir! I would use them to be sure but, like a lot of people the majority of driving is in town with the occasional off-road trip. I don't haul my truck with a trailer and another truck!:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I'm not a poser but, I'm certainly not a crawler either. I had a '07 Dodge w/35's and only a leveling kit was required. I learned to love the clearance of 35's. This just may be more work/money than it's worth. But always fun to look at.

Quoting myself… the majority consists of those that stick with stock tires and those that install off road tires and never use them. The majority looks at the minority the thinks wtf are those guys beating on their $30k trucks? Idiots! What comes around goes around. :)

I'll use my truck for off-road otherwise, why buy a 4wd?
I draw the line at stuck and body damage. I avoid both like the plague!

I see little reason to buy a 4wd truck unless you use it. If you simply need to drive on snowy roads, awd is superior. I prefer no body damage, but I’ve already damaged two sets of doors, ripped off the plastic front bumper cover, scratched the crap out my fender flares and paint on my 2020. I’ve always been a bit clumsy.

If you aren’t getting stuck you aren’t trying hard enough. It’s like waterskiing and never falling down. Unless you fail, you’ll never know or improve your capabilities, except if you are a solo rock climber. Those guys are nutz. :)

I get it. Really. Stuck was fun when I was younger. Hell, it was an "adventure" but I've learned how to get out of it and now, I've learned how not to get in there in the first place!
Funny...I rock climbed around AZ & Ca for years in my youth. We always used ropes. I'm not STUPID!

yeah exactly! And I’m not worried about the money or having to cut/weld some shit. I just want a super aggressive meaty look. And I want my tires to poke. A build that I’m trying to replicate suspension spec and wheel spec is Yotaloco on Instagram. That’s the exact stance I’m going for.

Id look at a 17x9 wheel with negative offset, and a MT tire.

@the.sight.picture has a similar stance/build, but not as "overlander". His truck is really nice.

Ive got a mean build too, but Im 2nd gen, so its not going to look the same as what youre trying to go for. I think it looks amazing. Doesn't matter when these other people are telling you not to cut. You do what you want! (I got a new frame and instantly did an aggressive cmc so i could put my tires back onto my DD)

You need a spotter because you can't pick the right lines then.

The Interco Swamper SSR's in 35x10.5 are big.... 35.3 tall by about 11 wide. I ran SSR's many years ago, they were a fantastic tire, great on the road and in wet conditions, fantastic on trails. These are one of those 'those that know' tires ;-)

The happy medium for not skinny but not a shit show is a 285/75r17, basically a 34x11.5. Many metric 35's are 34.4 - 34.6 tall and wider than 12.5. Not exactly a recipe for a great time on a Tacoma that will see trails.

OP, are you building a wheeling rig? Or is this more of a looks only thing?

Wow that is a super nice build!

I’ll check out that guy on Insta. I’ve tried getting these guys specs but no luck. Was looking at the Falcon T8 I think it is. 17x9 with a -38 offset and probably some Yokohama tires. I wish someone in this forum could just give me a straight answer rather than telling me to go skinny or don’t cut up your truck. I don’t care about this or that. All I want to know is the mods and what I’ll need to do to accomplish it Since my local shops know nothing. That’s a sweet build though. That’s the look I want. Aggressive and meaty.
