I'll be 70 in July and, to be honest about it, this is the first Toyota I've ever owned. Always was a Ford man before and thought in 2018 I needed a change...this is Buddy (as my wife named it-she also insisted on the color). Been in this rig from 4 miles to the 72,000 plus I'm at right now and it's been one of the most pleasurable driving experiences to date. Buddy does everything I need him to do and never complains.

Back in 1977 I was in the market for a new truck. Toyota did not have trucks back then so I bought a 1978 GMC 4x4 and the year after Toyota came out with their first pick up.I loved the looks of them so was thinking of trading my GMC on it but they wanted like 3,000.00 difference and I thought the hell with that. Make it short I waited till their trucks got a little bigger so in
1993 bought my first Tacoma Silver Xtra Cab 4x4 4 cylinder with MT.
1998 Tacoma Black Xtra Cab 4x4 V6 MT
2002 Tacoma Silver TRD Sport with DCab v6 4x4 with AT
2008 Tacoma Speedway Blue TRD Sport Dcab v6 4x4 with AT
2021 Tacoma Barcelona Red TRD Sport Premium Dcab long bed v6 4x4 with AT.
I will be 71 June 3rd and love this Tacoma and hope in the future to be able to drive another new Tacoma if I live that long.
I am old but young at heart and still a Hippie who listen to Hard Rock bands mid 60 's to mid 80's Era on my Sirius Radio. I am also a drummer. Just saying never too old to enjoy life.

Using data from J.D. Power, we discovered that most Tacoma owners are males with a median age of 55. Besides, they earn, on average, an annual income of $96,471

Something about that number...55...double nickels...I'll be turning 56 last week in June, this year.

I'm about $20K below that median last time I checked...but I could be wrong. lol

We have a "Restaurant 55" here in Dover and it was started by a man who happened to be 55 over 10 years ago--He and his daughter run a great place!

Just curious what you hated about the Tundra relative to the Tacoma. There are times I wonder if I should have got a Tundra with the bigger motor, especially with all the weight I've added.

    It was just... Too much.
    Too big to park easy.
    Too many options.
    Too many gadgets
It took me awhile (years) to figure out that I just wanted as simple a truck as I can find.
Plenty of power but I got rid of my bigger trailer.

Went round and round on what to get, after owning Toys for 30 years was getting a little bored, looked at everything from Subaru Foresters to F350s. Tacoma seemed like a good compromise between the two, plus after owning them for so long why change now. Every time I stray from the products I like, usually end up hating it.

Have noticed change in the Toyota buyer, went from guys who weren’t in a hurry to get from Point A to Point B reliably. Now I see a lot of boy racers who can’t get enough power or speed. The power thing seems like the major bitch with that group.

    Gotcha. Makes sense.

TBH I had a female tell me one time, ‘You’re a bigger guy, I’m surprised you didn’t get a bigger truck’. It shouldn’t have, but that comment has stuck with me

Im 6'4" and 265. I don't need to compensate by having a big truck.
