My current company auto-opted me into a 401k plan. I declined to contribute, and it's still got like $8k in there just from what the company has put in after 2 years. I think they take the match % out of my check automatically and then they add in their match.

 

How do they match 0 contributions?

 

I think they do a 6% match so they take some portion of my check and then match it with their 6%. I'm not actually entirely sure how it works. When they asked me if I wanted to setup a 401k I said no, and they said it wasn't optional lol.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've looked at a paystub from this company in the almost 3 years I've been there. I just know I get roughly the same amount every month and that's about as far as I've looked.

Yeah. That's why I was careful to specify "by CPI" in my OP.

Yea. I just know gas is a shit ton more, my kitchen remodel is a shit ton more that the pre Covid quote, and groceries seem ti be a little pricier. All of those, definitely more than 9%. But, I sold some of those GME shares I bought for 89 at 140 today. So my cash box spring can still support my mattress

 

Not how it works. The headline percentage number is inclusive of all the subcategories, including 'food at home', aka groceries.

Food at home alone Mar 21 to Mar 22 was 10% even. So 300 ---> 330.

 

Oh, they've changed it multiple times. Every time the numbers start to look bad, they come up with a new formula

If you want to criticize how the CPI is calculated, go nuts. I'll agree with you all day long. But that's a completely different topic.

Thanks. I'll see if I can remember to grab some photo's while I'm out there. Haven't spent much time in this specific area so I'm looking forward to checking it out. I still haven't totally convinced my wife how cool it would be to run up Mt Langley while we're out there. I think she'll be more stoked once she actually sees it.

 

My entire original statement was based on the use of CPI numbers, and so was David's reply, and so was my reply to him.

I'm ignoring any further replies you make outside that context because, as I already told you once, that's a completely different topic. Just FYI.

 

I've never posted photo's of this lake. I've only been up there once about 15 years ago. At that time it was closed to fishing so I just passed on through to another lake with large Goldens another 7 miles in. The regs changed in the last 5 years and now you can fish it. Barbless only, 2 fish over 16" limit.
