Another long day of working on little things. Air box, exhaust, power steering pump. AC compressor, etc. I even gave her a good rinse. She needs a full detail after 5ish months. I primed the engine by pulling the spark plugs and ECU fuse 1 and 2. Then cranked the engine for about 5-7 seconds. I let it rest for about 20 seconds, then cranked it for about 10 seconds. Put the plugs and brand new coils in. Finished up some interior stuff then started her up. Purrs like a tiger. LOL!

I do need to add, I was worded about the fuel that had been sitting for so long. Well, it was not an issue and I was on the reserve. LOL! My test drive consisted of $120 trip to the gas station and not getting a full tank.
I put about 5-6 miles and it's great to see her parked in the front.

A little update. I have been driving the truck for about two months. I did my break in oil change at 975 miles I think. I sent a sample to Blackstone. I got the report back and it all looks normal. They said the oil seems a little thin,, but it's not from fuel.
I have driven it a little hard and have ran her up to redline a few times. Still running good and no issues.

You change the type of oil you were running between samples?

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
I'm curious about the engine build. Still running well? Were you able to increase performance with the upgraded pistons and rods like raise the rev limiter? Was there anything else done to the heads besides the valve seals?
Any regrets or things you would have done differently?
I've never gone deeper than the heads in any motor. I like the idea of building one myself.

Engine is running strong. I had the engine bored .5mm over, that is .020". At that time the only thing done to the heads was valve guide seals. I have added cams a few months ago. I got in on a group buy last year. I did put the arp head studs in. I was unable to find the main studs.
My one regret is not going with forged pistons. They had about 4-6 month back order at that time. (I think) I ran into a shit show trying to get machine work done, so that took about 4 or 5 months to get handled. It is my daily driver, so it going south sucked. If I had a spare engine to rebuild it would not have been a problem waiting. Rebuilding this engine was not that bad. Very few special tools needed. Most of them were 12 point sockets or torx sockets. I bought the factory brackets for lifting the engine. I think they were about $20 each. I did not want to just bolt a chain to the side of the block.

Great Job on the build! I am just about to tackle this myself, hopefully it will go smoothly. Starting with a factory short block and going from there. I was wondering if you have the P/N for the lifting brackets? Cheers!
