I bought an old cobbled together mower from a shade tree small engine guy when we lived in Arkansas. It would do about twenty mph, which was fine on flat, open ground... but in the orchard it could take you out if you weren't careful. But it made mowing fun...

Fun watching my dog spot "rabbit" and slowly creep up on the bunny. Bunny was safe on the other side of the fence.

She opted to charge, and wabbit was out of there!

We have Javelinas - they don't run, apparently know how fences work....... Killed a neighbor's pit bull and left its partner for dead. They shouldn't have gotten loose in the first place.

Zero turn mowers themselves are not "dangerous". They become dangerous when people who drive them forget that they can be different to operate safely. Usually they are much faster, than the "regular" riders. Some operators tend to run them too fast in areas they should not. Secondly they can have a higher center of gravity, which leads to a tip over on slopes. Thirdly they have much of the center of weight setting further to the rear. This can lead to one unexpectedly doing a "wheelie" .
To sum it up -know how to drive what you are using in the safest way you can, get used to your and slow down when the terrain is rough, sloped , or slippery.
I have a Scag 36 inch cut ZT. I love this thing. I actually run mine with a sand filled bag (50lbs?) laying in the front end of the floor board. This, I feel, makes mine feel a bit a little heavier on the front end. Maybe I am wrong, but my Scag, also seems to be a bit shorter in length than other ZT's
Here is a bit newer version of mine. I got a great deal on a previous year model plus they give a nice veterans discount

Geez, took me long enough! There was a hump about 8' round down near the pond that I always thought was a rock pile, I always trimmed it with the string trimmer. Well, after over 30 yrs., i figured it gots to go, went after it with a pick, a shovel, and a rake. There were quite a few rocks in it but I did manage to level it, there were a couple of big rocks I couldn't move that were on the one side of it, now I can mow almost all of it. :yay:

With my riding mower, the ditch in front of the house is always a challenge. The mower can go up and down at a 45-degree angle, but not enough power at 90 degrees getting up the other side. The fun part is slightly damp grass, and it wants to slide sideways. Oh boy. So I am leaning way over to the uphill side.

Best mow what I can, then the push mower to clean up the rest. We are on well water, so no lawn watering! Let it go brown during the summer, which means less mowing. It's a win-win for me!

Big mower, then push mower, then weed wacker! I want a condo!

If you are mowin' along, singin' a song and happen to knock a rear tire off the bead on a zero turn at full speed you immediately make a hard turn in the direction of the flat.

If you happen to be on the edge of a bank you immediately discover that a ZT doesn't fly...

    Ay Carumba!

Got the Honda back from the body shop. Work is good. Coordination between the front office and service writers is a classic in "how to piss off customers to make sure they tell their friends to avoid this place."

During the week, automated messages "parts ordered," "car in the shop" "parts replaced" and "paint done" So you have a good idea of where it is along the process.

The last step is "we will call you to set up a pickup time". 100 vehicles in the shop, and six parking spots out front, so I get it. No call. Tried calling, 30 minutes of busy or no answer. Hmm.

Got through this morning after a 22-minute hold. "No appointment needed, just show up and pick it up". OK, would have been nice to know.

Made it at 3:00 PM, and paid my deductible. "Oh, you can not leave yet, until the technician goes over repairs". The car was out front, blocked in by other vehicles. Uh, OK. No one seemed to know who had the vehicles blocking me in, but thankfully another tech come out and got the vehicle that had blocked me in. Disappeared. Stuck my head back in "is the tech coming out"

Well, thankfully yet another tech asked what I was doing looking at the car. "I'm here to pick it up" He was there to park yet another vehicle to block me in. At least was understanding of my frustration.

    Cluster Puck, big time.

Huge waste of 143 minutes (hold for scheduling, drop-off waiting time, hold time to confirm pick up time, and finally getting the vehicle). Oh, the vehicle was gritty and dirty, with lots of water spots. Needs to be detailed as it looks much worse than when I dropped it off.

On the bright side, I have a wonderful story for our internal team on "how to lose customers."

We don’t have those in California but if they killed my dog id declare war, I’d make it my life’s mission to take down as many as I could. Mess with my family, my dog or my kitty cat and you mess with your life.
Never seen one only seen pictures. They must be bad ass to kill a pit and injure a second one.
    And good evening Susan.

 evening Ken I agree!!! When son lived in Ajo, all yards were fenced, front and back due to them. One day the neighbor trimmed some of her cactus' and put the trimmings in her back driveway. After dark we peeked over the wall (heard noises) and saw about 20 of those scum bags scarfing the trimmings. They had some nasty tusks. Would be hard to fight several of them at once. You never watched American Hoggers?

Hospitals are the same way. Why IS that? It's always, "We have to wait for the office to send your paperwork up." so you can sign something and leave. Two hours minimum.

Speaking of which... I have to go up north into the big city today for a medical practitioner to look at my left hand. I've lost muscle in it, and it's weaker than it was. The most noticeable loss of muscle is between the thumb and the body of the hand. It's just gone. The veins on the back stand out twice as much as my right hand. No loss of motion or pain, but wondering WTF...

Scags are a better than decent mower. My son has a JD 36 zero turn Z345R. We added installed a trailer hitch and a trailer. Nice little set up. I followed your link and the 36 has two engine options. Both the Kawa and the Kolar are great choices. The video however makes me wonder if Scag is targeting females as the customer base or is she the same as a show car model. :D

Today I am prepping a 4X6 as a mounting post for a retractable hose reel. Picked up one from Costco for $150. Reading reviews for retractable hose reels made me give up on looking at a cost as a guideline. All of them have a higher than average poor reviews. I figured Costco has a better return policy if I am not happy. Getting the reel working is one of my weekend projects.

You guys and gals made me look up Javelinas. I had never seen that word before.

    Everyone have a Fantastic Friday!

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Gals! Waiting on the microwave repair guy for this AM, then I'm going to putz the garage some more. I'll do the yard when I can start earlier tomorrow; don't worry, it's a SAFE walk behind!
Hot weekend! Should smoke something on Monday, but I can't make up my mind yet. Mikkel is coming to do some stain on a little table, but doesn't know if he will get to stay. I got a day to think about it.
