    Mods? Yes, oh yes..
Mounts (motor & auto trans 4x4) are on, very happy. The Truck Shop did the install. Can't wait for some dirt time and not feeling the engine/trans moving around.

I hope it's OK to use blue towards frame
just because red loctite says it can only be broken loose using heat from a torch
and although I have a MAP gas torch, I don't know if it can fit into that area in the future, or if there's enough room to heat without burning other things
or maybe it can, I'll look

    I'll give it another shot
might get more stuff out of the way for better access, possibly flipping bracket to the opposite side if it helps be less in the way
due for a clutch and that may even help to go from behind with trans bellhousing out of the way

    Everything.

Red Loctite can easily be broken loose without heat or flame. I don't know why it would say that. Especially on a 12mm dia bolt. (small bolt)

Id advise against swapping the brackets side to side, or flipping them. The way they come delivered is the way they are built in the weld fixture and mimic the factory geometry of bolt hole alignment. Also the frame perch plate gusset that is welded between the two bushing tabs, if flipped would prevent any water run off in that area.

sorry by bracket I meant the OEM factory bolt.
They have these weird pieces. I believe some go through the bolt, and others are a part of the nut.
I don't know why they're there. If they act as a heat shield or some sort of failsafe.
I'm guessing some people just throw them away.
On no other vehicle have I seen motor mounts have stuff like that.
They block certain areas and make it harder to get a wrench on the actual nut/bolt, and try to twist when turning it.

Like if you were to go to a dealer to buy the hardware (if they can even find it), rather than just be nuts and bolts, it would come with a bunch of weird looking shit at extra cost.
    Some angled at 45deg.
Can't find any pics online now; I'll snap a couple next time I'm wrenching on the truck

In that case I will try red loctite, thank you.

@Bonzen I just found this thread and it made my day. In any one of my vehicles I enjoy motorsport in, solid motor and transmission mounts are on the short list of what I do first. I see by your signature that you make motor mounts for the 3.5L found in the 3rd gen Taco - is that correct or did I misinterpret this? Do you make transmission mounts for the automatic transmission in the same vehicle? Fingers crossed... if not, I may be willing to bankroll your R&D.

Yep been making the 3.5 V6 engine mounts for about 2 years now. No tranny mount yet, been waiting for them to catch on at a higher frequency of orders. The R&D process is long and expensive, I have to see a good size demand before I'll dedicate time and money to it. The trucks are still "new" so people are still timid about modifying them with a non-glamours product that cant really be seen and the engine mount failure rate is only about 50% of what the previous generation tacomas are experiencing. Unfortunately a lot of people will go down the broken OEM motor mount road in the next few years to the tune of lots of repair $$$. The trick is to replace them with my upgraded parts before the OE ones fail. Plus you get performance benefits so whats not to like?

I had a 3rd gen owner order engine mounts this week and he has to pull his motor and re-weld his frame perch plates due to them cracking apart when the OE mounts failed. Really really shitty...

Send me a PM, I'll get you going:thumbsup:

Thats a 2nd Gen 2wd Auto tranny crossmember/mount combo. I rarely make them anymore due to the amount of labor I have to put into them which makes the cost high.

If you are 4wd, I have a 4wd trans mount that bolts to your stock crossmember that I sell all the time. PM me and I'll get you set up.

I meant for 4wd, but wanted the whole crossmember. I may have to make my own though.

Yeah I never designed a new X member for the 4wd trucks. Only reason I did it for the 2wd ones is because I was told they were all cracking apart like extremely frequently which turned out to be false. In like 8 years Ive probably sold only 10. Just not worth the R&D and $$

I have kits, just gotta weld them up. I think my backlog is looking like 25-ish kits on order right now, so lead time is looking like 14-20 days
