a little here, a little there
Went for the night to my local conservation area. First time solo camping and first time sleeping in the back of the truck. All in all it was a great time

I considered the single burner @2021SR5V64WD has, but ended up with the even smaller single propane burner. Works great for all my solo camping needs and kicks out some serious heat (honestly sometimes too much for eggs and whatnot). Only real downside is it gets top heavy quick depending on what you're cooking, so you'll want a nice flat surface to be safe.

I would just build one yourself. Do a short burn before going to use it to cook any coatings off. Probably not environmentally friendly but I’d do that to not breathe it in.

it’s like copper pipe and drill holes. Lots of guides. I’d only use one if I couldn’t have a wood fire, but that’s never an issue by me

I actually just bought the Ignik Firecan. It's on sale right now for $50 off at Amazon/REI/Backcountry. Could probably make one for less, but by the time I gather all the parts it was just easier to buy it.

Its hard to beat a real fire, but I think it will be nice for a few reasons. Not having to bring/buy/find fire wood, no smelly smoke, can just turn it off when I'm done. Still works for roasting marshmallows and hot dogs. I can use it on the deck at home too. If you live/camp in an area with fire bans (pretty uncommon around here) it's probably worth it. One thing I've read online is to add some ceramic/lava fire rocks to the box to help it radiate heat more.

I think around 2000ft, but this is last fall so it wouldn't be too relevant for you now, sorry.

A side by side comparison looks like this is the same resolution for the snow depth grid and a much better map underlay, and better interface: https://www.fs.fed.us/r5/webmaps/SierraSnowDepth/

Right on. I find some of their content decent, but it more or less feels like grade school ‘Show & Tell’ via sponsors. Good for them though- not a bad gig to have.

Oh yeah it absolutely is, I just live vicariously through them since I have to work like most people and can’t adventure all the time like they do haha

Perhaps, but consider how much time they must invest in documenting and editing their exploits. I’d imagine they spend more time curating their content than they do actually adventuring…

Yep that’s a good point. I know they’ve both mentioned more than once that it’s “work” in their videos and not as much fun as it could/should be.

I just built my own for about $30. Hit it with high temp rust oleum after I burned the paint off. It kicks out some heat but really goes through the propane. It’s really nice to just fire it up, no smoke and just shut it down when you’re turning in. Also great to fire it up on a chilly camp morning. No worries about an unattended fire when you walk away from camp or anything.

    Just the basics
I got the Lavabox recently. Pricey even with a coupon but American made. Yes totally doable by yourself but I don't have the time to build one right now.

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.

I've used a flower pot with a small grate on top that housed some lump-coal in it to grill stuff. The flower pot had holes in the sides for
drainage which allowed for air-flow into it and really got those coals super hot. Only problem is it can get SUPER HOT and start a fire so
you gotta set it on something like dirt with no twigs close by, like a foot... I also lined it with 2 layers of tin foil to keep it from cracking.

But - nowadays starting any kind of fire in most places out west is prohibited - I never liked a camp-fire they are dangerous and stink.
