Leaving in the morning for Portland to get mine installed. Going to be an expensive trip with hotels on the way and the cost of gas! Yikes! Hope it is worth it!

I'll add my two cents. I didn't plan my trip either, just hit state parks as I came to them in OR. This was in March/April so early in the season. I loved that OR parks included hot, well-maintained showers at no extra cost (no quarters) for the most part. Once in No CA my favorite park was Jedediah Smith. Lovely riverside campground. I wouldn't miss The Lost Coast, actually want to make a special trip again. Start at the little town of Ferndale and enjoy one of the most remote drives. Take the turn off toward Shelter Cove or go straight out to Humbolt Redwoods. As to Big Sur, there are sparse campgrounds, and the Nacimiento and other roads leading into the hills are still closed, but one secret is to show up at the lovely little Kirk Creek Campground around noon. They get their cancellations between noon and 2 and they don't re-list them on the park website, so they become first come, first served sites. Have a great trip!

We camped here one night on the way back ourselves.

Was nice to be right at the beginning of Redwoods so we could drive through the next morning on our way out.

Fresh out the oven. Will do full assembly test fits once I get the rest of my hardware together. Still need to program and make the SP specific nuts, but I can use my other t slot nuts for the time being.

How are people running the 3rd brake light wire? I got the harness from @Puppypunter (awesome by the way) but I'm not clear on a clean way to run the wire from behind the tail light to the wire in the camper. Can someone post a photo? Looks like one could drill straight up through the bed side into the camper for a completely hidden installation.

I have KBVoodoo bed rail caps on a 2014...I ran the wires out a small hole in the back of the tail light compartment. I did make that hole slightly larger with an awl. take a look in there and you should see some daylight (maybe not with factor rail caps??). Good luck.

There’s enough room to wedge the wire through the caps I can show a picture.

Similar to what I did. I put all the connectors near the tail light would be only difference. The ship near them did a nice setup that used a connector so it was easy to remove. Plan to to do later on.

I drilled up from the taillight through my bedrail. Important tip: if you open up the covers on the corner posts, including the lower cover on the bottom of the side door opening, you will see that there is a rectangular opening on the bottom corner of the SP. So, if you drill straight up into this opening you won't have to drill though the SP and you'll have direct access to the wire buss.

Found some hardware that will work and did some test fitting and overall they work great. I just want to adjust some sizes to get the fit really perfect. (they rotate a little bit still under the tension of the poles)

Thank you! Hoping after a couple little tweaks, and some coating.. they'll be what I'm going for.

What did you want to tweak?

Does the fact that they turn a little underload bother you? Un asked for suggestion. What if yhe bottom of your mounts, the part against the extrusion, had tabs on it? Something that would help it alide into place and not move, then the t nut would just keep it snug against the extrusion.
Still would only need one screw.

So the poles seem to make the door "flap" taut from side to side, but what about top to bottom? Looks like there could be potential flapping in high winds or pooling in the rain. Not saying there ARE those issues (since I haven't tried it), but was wondering if you have considered those possibilities/parameters when you designed them.

Those are basically the tweaks I want to make. lol

@Mark77 there is already a square, raised locating spud on the backside of the mounts, you can see it in the photos. I just want to enlarge it a little more and it should eliminate almost all rotation. It's very minimal as of now, but enough to bother me.

@DividedSky I'm going to adjust the angle of the holes a little bit to give it more tension outward. It did hold up to winds today though.. I got a picture of it when it was whipping through, but again.. it bothers me, so I'll adjust it to give it more tension.

Just got back from a quick day trip to chill by the lake with the wife and test out the setup today.

Also saw our first X1 in the wild here in Az on a Tundra today as well.

Are those AL or steel poles? If AL, do the poles seem to bend with the wind? Maybe not rigid enough? Could a different angle outward be better, such as more lateral instead of in a vertical direction?
