This conversation has been exhausted on nearly every forum. Pros exist because people keep on buying them. Is there a fool born every day? Sure. Am I a consenting adult? Yes. I spent 46k and it’s largely stock. Much less than what goes into a similarly spec’d OR, let alone one with mods beyond what the PRO has.

$46k is a HELL of a lot different than what the OP is considering of purchasing. A private party (so technically lightly used) selling at a full size truck price? Absolutely insane….

Oh, I completely agree, and I’m bothered that the guy is trying to sell the accessories that come standard with a pro. The heart wants what the hearts wants, though.

What would a slightly used Tundra Pro go for in the CA market? I bet a hell of a lot more than just $56k he is considering spending on a Tacoma Pro?

Exactly, that's why people need to wait, or buy new at a dealer that will sell at msrp or under. I'm tired of seeing people pay over msrp because then the stealerships keep doing it. Private party sellers are just as bad. The way it's going with people willing to fork over another $5k for a depreciating asset, stealerships won't EVER stop.

Just an update, I did not pursue the TRD Pro any further than just inquiring. To my knowledge it’s still for sale…guessing a softening market for ppl trying to squeeze all they can. I am however looking at regular OR’s which i am seeing no less than MSRP at dealerships and a ~2 month wait.

I think that’s a great way to go and then mod however you want.

Yeah I think that's a good move. OR's go for around $40-42kish and then you can mod it to make it even better than a pro for cheaper! My OR comes in at the end of next month

A loaded OR is way more than 40-42kish.

This logic to avoid cognitive dissonance is very common in the context of pro bashing.

Considering a BASE Trd pro with no options is about $47k and a base Trd offroad with almost no options is about $39k (not including fees), with $8k, I could build a MUCH more capable truck than a pro. Not bashing the pro, just saying it’s overpriced and a lot of people buy into the hype of it just being labeled as a pro.

The gap between a loaded Offroad and a standard Pro, both in automatic, is about $5500 with no added market adjustments. For that money you get a skewp, skewp decal, rigid fogs, lifted better suspension, better wheels and tires, cool mats, embroidered seats, better exhaust system, and other cosmetic enhancements.

Therefore, you aren’t really throwing away a ton of money if you buy a Pro at MSRP now that Offroads are also at MSRP.

Stop acting like Pro buyers are idiots. In the current market, Pro buyers at MSRP aren’t getting a terrible deal. The value equation was different when you could get a loaded Offroad 10% or more below MSRP.

I paid a little under 46k (manual transmission) in November and have most of what I would have added rolled into my monthly. All pros have all the options, beyond audio, so it’s not a fair comparison. For sure makes sense if you’re paying cash and/or you aren’t turning your truck into a Pro clone like most do. Probably closer to 47 now that I upgraded my audio (MTs don’t come with JBL, thank God).

Exactly, I wanted leather and a sunroof, so it make sense. At baseline, I also liked the wider stance, fogs, and ability to chill and think before spending more money on mods (let’s not forget about all the lead times).

    I didn’t say a LOADED offroad is around $39k. I said a base offroad.

Ok then? All I’m saying is there is an $8k difference roughly. With that $8k you can build a more capable vehicle than the pro. I don’t see how that’s wrong?

I took exception to your “I think a Pro is such a waste of money” remark.

There are a whole lot of people that disagree with you.

Paid 40,500 out the door in 18 when I ordered my pro and people called me crazy. Kept it all stock besides a tune and 285s. Best truck I’ve ever owned.
