Really, I was just making a post to show how stupid this thread is with some irony.

 

Ah ok. For a minute there I thought I was going to have to compare the superiority of my SR Access cab to your truck for use as an actual truck you carry things in cab and bed lol. Mine with a load capacity of 1500 lbs vs your what, 950 lbs? Nevermind.

 

Oh, good one! I bet you do tons of "truck" stuff with a 2WD 6ft bed Tacoma.

Not really. I wasted time conversing with someone who brought up the "superiority" of their 2WD SR based on +500lbs payload capacity making it good at truck stuff while making a small dick joke about someone based on the assumption of what vehicle they own. The irony is overwhelming.

 

I see, well maybe remember that lesson the next time you’re tempted to call someone’s Tacoma a “poor-person-truck” lol.
I’m loving my SR Access Cab, living in it down by the river eating potted meat and government cheese on saltine crackers because the stock markets down. Knowing I’m still a rich man for I have a truck with a 1500 lb payload rating.

 

Better yet, just log your mileage in fuelly, then link to your fuelly profile in your signature and your lifetime mileage is there for the viewing.

 

Drove that route once in my wife’s Prius, gauge said 99 mpg! All down hill, never touched the gas!

 

Awesome mileage for a 2.7! Best I've seen with my 2011 AC 2wd 5spd with 3.15 gears, skinny tires and keeping speed below 65 is 27 mpg per tank.

 

I wish my truck had a bigger tank, say 25 gallons. I average 19 mpg, is what it is.

 

Yep, pencil and paper real calculation is the only way to provide accurate MPH. A large part of my job involves statistics and the nonsense posted on so many forums is simply incorrect data.

 

Okay, I did that. But not four times. I only did it twice. Doing it four times would be a long commitment just to prove myself. That's a lot of work to prove someone on the internet right or wrong. So here's the two that I did:

Also: I am not claiming anywhere near 30MPG'. I always claim 20-21MPG, for the tank average. I also claim that I get 400 miles out of my tank. I tried to fill up the same amount of gas or have the same miles to empty.

About my truck & my driving:

1) My right foot is not made of lead. This is a HUGE factor in how I consistently achieve that. I don't take off fast and I don't brake fast.
2) I rarely drive over 65MPH. I even set the cruise control when driving to work for most of my commute. A consistent speed helps.
3) My truck is a 21' TRD OffRoad 4x4 3.5 V6 - Automatic, with a stock lift. I have not put aftermarket (heavier) tires on it or lifted it even further. I have a front steel bumper, but that only added 60lbs. Adding weight to your truck or lifting it makes it draaaaaaaag. For the most part, my truck is "stock", even if it doesn't look it.
4) 95% of my driving, is commuting to/from work. It's over 20 miles one way to work. The Tacoma loves long drives and HATES city commuting. Sure, I make quick runs to the dry cleans, grocery store, church, etc... When I do, I get around 12 - 14MPG for those short trips.
5) I'm what some people call "A flat lander". I live in Texas. No hills or high elevations in my area! This is also a factor to get those high MPG's.

Drove back from the lake yesterday afternoon. Holiday weekend traffic was running over 80 mph on a 75 mph speed limit interstate. Flat terrain other than crossing over the smallish Arbuckle mountains. I ran with traffic the entire trip home and was expecting a worse mpg impact due to the higher speeds. Perhaps increasing 265/65-17 tire inflation pressure to 35 psi front / 33 psi rear may have helped.

 

Thats the fuel dream meter display. I can get bs readings all day like that with my 3.5 v6. Really need to do the actual math.

I actually average 17-18 MPGs with my set up.

 

I always disregard the short or one time trips. I only look at the trip odometer when I fill up. 99% of the time, it has been at or over 400 miles. If you do the math on my previous posting, it supports my 20-21MPG average per tank claim.

 

I carry a thousand pounds of tools in a little VW Golf Sportwagen, more then most Tacomas are rated to haul, and get constant 40 mpg tankfuls.

Talking truck milage is like talking about falling up stairs, not really made to happen.
