I had a totally opposite experience on Nexus. I used +P for 3 tanks and barely made 300 miles on each tank. On KDMAX, 360 miles was a norm with mixed driving. Last week trip yield 411 miles on the tank. Hopefully changes are made to improve the economy

that is crazy. Out of 25 tunes across 2 different states I’ve never gotten below 320mi in a tank unless I’m towing my 20ft Jayco. Is your rig heavy?

I think topography is really the key. I live in an area where you are either going up or down unless you’re on a highway that follows a river valley. Even my Cummins and my wife’s rav 4 prime don’t get near the advertised fuel economy until we get somewhere relatively flat.

I live on the east coast. I get higher MPG's, by about 3 or so, headed north on the interstate than I do when heading south. Wind doesn't seem to be the main factor there either.

Oddly enough I see similar results, when I drive from ct to vt I get some of the best fuel economy I ever have versus me driving down toward the shore for work. Wind for me makes a difference in the Tacoma because the cap isn’t flush with the cab, the Cummins doesn’t really matter I may lose .5mpg in a strong headwind.

My first thought was the wind. But it's typically hitting from the side. One side is the gulf and the other being the Atlantic. We don't really get north/south winds here.

Finally got to install the Nexus +P tune, and couldn't be happier with it. It drives exactly how I would have expected it to from the factory, especially with tip in, and shifting. I got the truck originally for a deal I couldn't pass up, but after driving it for a while I wasn't sure I would be keeping it just because the driving experience sucked, then I got the OVTune 2.0 and that made it decent enough to drive, but still, shifting in the 45-55mph range (you know... the most common speed you'll probably be in) was pretty terrible. This tune, however, makes it a joy to drive. It makes me think I have a brand new truck, and there's no dead spots in the rpm/mph range anymore.

I kinda wish I would have just gotten the 87 octane tune now that I'm realizing it was all to do with the tranny programming that was making me unhappy, and this was supposed to just be a stop gap until I could install my twin turbo kit. Is buying a second tune cheaper?

Going out of my way to be hyper critical, and TRYING to find issues; all I can come up with is there a very slight small surge at part throttle, sometimes (haven't been able to nail down the conditions), between 2 and 3, but like I said that's just looking for something to be "wrong".

Super happy and would recommend this to others. 5 stars. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.

A little too early to comment on, but I think my mileage has gone up about 1 mile per gallon average.

Sooo I just ordered the Nexus +P, literally hours before this update… lol my timing is fantastic!

Is Blackhawk better? How is it different? I am not interested in trying to decipher a dyno… I just want my truck to be awesome!

If I read the posts correctly, I can choose to get it (Blackhawk) instead?

So you're the first to mention it that I've seen, but I also randomly experience a random surge around 2nd or 3rd. I barely tap the gas and the truck lurches forward. It doesn't happen often, but it's certainly not just a one-off either

I had the same issue at first. I think it just takes some getting used to/learning. Advice I got from my buddy @tonered---instead of continuing to push the throttle further and further as you accelerate, hold it in position as the truck is accelerating and let the tune pull you along. Also I think the more miles you get on it the better it gets. I'm loving the Prem AD Tune and can't wait for BLACKHAWK!

PS @ChilliTaco GO FLAMES!... Well I guess GO Oilers now...:frusty:

Blackhawk is better. Significant changes have been made, which is why things have been quiet on our end. It was a collaboration between YotaWerx so it'll come with their signature low end torque plus some smooth HP goodness.

You can get both (Nexus +P now, Blackhawk on release), or wait around for the release, up to you. But I'd recommend waiting for Blackhawk.

I guess it will depend on actual dates, tuner is somewhere north of the 49th now, lol so could be any day. But I’m fine with only doing one install…

Ah, if you don't have the means to do it yourself then I highly recommend waiting. One trip is all you'll need.

I meant that my tuner is still enroute from VFTuner… I have a few people up here already interested in tuning their Taco’s n Tundra’s, so figured I would bite the bullet and get one, with the interest it will be pretty easy to recoupe the cost…
