Why is used pricing higher than new?

I don't think there will be an influx of inventory until after 2025, if at all. Even with rising fuel costs, prices for trucks are going to stay high, and most likely never come down.

If gasoline prices remain high, I suspect we will see demand reduced for the full size trucks (F150, Tundra, Ram, Silverado/Sierra). This will possibly increase demand for midsize trucks like the Tacoma (2023 Ranger, 2023 Colorado, etc.).

Thre Lightning will probably drive up the cost of ICE F-150, as people who are looking at the Lighting won't want to pay what dealerships will be asking, and the ICE trucks will probably have a shorter wait time. Not everyone who comes in to inquire about the Lighting, will have to have a BEV truck, not if it cost 20-30% more and comes with a 12-18 month lead time. Why wouldn't Ford dealers take advantage of this and rake in a little more profit while they can?

I have 2 dealers here that are 1-1.5 months out. It’s not so scarce here. Thread is simply to get educated.

I quite like the F150 Lightning EV. It's an EV that I could actually get a lot of use out of.

In 2021 I had a rental compact sedan for two weeks that insurance paid for. The bill was $1200 and thats with the insurance discounted rate. Point is rentals cars are crazy expensive now, I can't imagine the rental bill of a SUV or truck for two or three months. Heck buy used and purchase Toyota extended warranty if you want.

There are some derpy types that still parrot the old boomer-isms of never buying a new car and think they are being smart via buying a used one at above-new prices (or close to new price with 50K miles).

This is such a sad truth …… many folks around me will only look at and buy 2 year old used vehicles still talking about the 20% depreciation that the fool that bought the vehicle new had to lose as soon as they drove it off the new car lot……… totally oblivious that they just paid the same (or more) than they could have purchased the same vehicle brand new.

Should have taken a ride down the turnpike to exit 4. Holman has no markups.

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
Some of it comes down to trim level and color option. If you wanted a offroad in army green, you would wait more like a year. Not 2 months. Lunar rock is extremely hard to get.

Finding a lunar rock 2022 access cab off road would be ridiculously impossible to get from a dealer. You might end up waiting 2 or 4 years.

My new taco ( electric lime)you can't get. They are all allocated for 2022 They probably made around 5 thousand. I saw one sell on ebay for 80k!!!!! But I also got on 4 lists last year for this truck.. so alot of it is purely rarity..

Go visit two or three of your closest toyota dealers. They won't have more then one or two if any tacos on lot... and the ones on the lot are pearl white (sorry white fans) and probably a base model or sr.

    Cheers

This is a great example of why people will pay it.. tonestars truck is very very rare. If you wanted a magnetic Grey manual... good luck randomly finding it.. my guess is tone looked high and low for that truck

Nope, called 3 dealers- said call me when you have a manual allocated - won’t pay over MSRP… they called me, i put a deposit and picked it up when it came in

But, it wasn’t my daily vehicle so i had the opportunity to wait.

My son’s recent purchase is MGM automatic. MGM auto’s are the most readily available around here. Barcelona Red is a distant second in terms of availability. Lunar Rock continues to be very hard to get in any Tacoma.
