First post! I bought a brand new 2021 taco off road. Curious if anyone has this same button next to the voltage on the dash. Not sure what that push button furthest right is used for? thanks

Do you have the window sticker? It’ll probably say on that, dealer added something

Yeah nothing pops up on the dash once pressed. Had the truck for about 8 months now never noticed it. Nothing out of the ordinary on the window sticker.

That does not look like a factory button. You may just have to tear apart some interior panels and trace the wires. That's similar to what I did with my taco when I bought it.

Yeah I agree, I’ll have to peel back that switch and see what’s up with it. The funny thing is, I’m the only owner of it. No upgrades from the dealer just the standard off road premium.

    Brand new?

As in never been previously owned?
I’m surprised there is a Brand New 2021 on a dealer lot?

I figured they would have all been sold and only new were 2022?

    Oh look, another mod....
I am 178% sure this is not OEM, it's after market. I have all the same switches that you do, but when I got my truck, that area was blank. I later put in an after market front grill LED light.

Did you buy it brand new, or new-used? The dealer may have installed an after market alarm or kill switch on it?

Bought’r brand new off the lot this past October. I could have sworn it was flush before too. After a quick google search that button is normally used for the clutch-start-cancel switch but I have an AT.

Shoot now that you mention the alarm…the dealer did state that it didn’t come stock with an alarm from factory. That might be it, but I can’t ever remember seeing that there.

Thanks for all your guys’s input I appreciate it.

There was another thread about the same thing a couple months ago, turns out the dealer had installed an aftermarket alarm/security system . That means they cut and spliced or tapped into the wiring harness, not good.

These aftermarket security systems will have buttons that look like that, which have special button press combinations to set certain settings on the security module.

First off- Welcome Obi! You're doomed, you found and joined TW, the world of cool taco mods and the beginning of the end of being debt free! :spending:

But really, dealer add ons like their name stickers and shi—y alarm mods like that really would make me just walk off the lot. They already get enough money from us to be doing stuff like that.

And that’s a pretty sad looking installation too- it looks like a RadioShack NOS button from the 80’s, and they didn't even center the hole! Others here are right- it was such a low cost installation that they probably skimped and also used tap connectors on your wire harness- and now there’s a useless hole in the dash. I’d go back to the dealer and make them repair all of it- don’t let them do that to your truck.
