A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.

Nice score bro... if it's still low enough miles you could flip that bad boy and pocket 10k. Anything manual is rare. MGM is a favorite.

What state are you in? I turned down two auto electric lime pros in the last month that got allocated and didn’t have any deposits on. I think an ELM pro with a manual would be pretty impossible to get at this point.

I think part of it is dealers want inventory on the lot, however, a delay in selling a new truck makes it harder for them to get production allotment. So, ask high prices of the used ones (as they will eventually sell at that price), and move the new ones faster to get allotment.

That said, local dealerships are adding $5-7K market adjustment to new trucks. I flew to Idaho to buy mine back in September and drove it the 2K miles back home. I wanted a no extras TRD OR, which I also could not get locally. Adding mark up and paying for $5K in features I did not want made the choice to shop out of state easy. Wait time then was more than 3 months and even though I put a deposit on it, the dealership made it clear they did not want the truck sitting on their lot for even 2 weeks and that if I could not pick it up soon after arrival, they would sell it to someone else. They cited hurting their ability to get allotment as the reason. They also required me to finance through them, I did that and refinanced with my bank afterwards.

At the time, used would have cost me as much as new locally. I was able to wait, so I did. However, at the time a 1 week rental (if you could find one) was $800 locally, so I sure as hell would have paid the used prices if I had to have a second vehicle over pay almost $10K for a rental. Part of the reason prices are high is because rental fleets are buying used vehicles as due to manufacturing shortages manufactures are not selling them new ones. This means the rental market is also stupid expensive at the moment.

Even back in 2019 when I bought mine new, I thought that the used prices were too close to the new prices. It was hard for me to justify paying over 25 grand for a used vehicle. Anything under that looked beat up or had over 200k.

That has always been an issue with Tacoma and its high resale. In some reviews that high resale has been considered a negative for used tacoma buyers; why buy used because they command almost as much as new even pre-pandemic?

When I was looking in 2015 for a new truck I was trying to decide between the last year 2nd Gen or first year 3rd gen. The biggest factor was for the money I was paying I could buy a leftover that didn't check all the boxes or order exactly what I wanted in my color choice. It made the decision easy.

It's always been that way with Toyota Tacomas.

    And for you boomer bashers....

Average age of new Tacoma buyer is over 50 years old. It's those "boomers" that actually have money to buy new vehicles it seems.

Yeah, that's because we didn't take out huge student loans for worthless degrees and spend $20 bucks a day on cold coffee when we were your age.

Tacomas have generally always been priced close to new prices used, hence why everyone loves the residual value on them and ranking the top in that category, current supply and demand just has them now priced the same and in some markets more than new because most that are allocated are already spoken for or there just isnt any coming anytime soon so dealers will be dealers, you'll see plenty of 5-100 mile "certified used" ones too at some dealers, which is just shady asf cause they definitely were never used.

That's why they have no trouble finding a buyer who will pay the mark up. They aren't paying the mark up, but the person who finds the truck they want used will pay the mark up.

Could too be people just aren't looking and shopping around..IDK

For 3 months (April-July) 2021 I had a rental..a Chevy Malibu for 4-5 weeks and then a Nissan Frontier DCSB. I want to say that total was $4K-something.

Sometimes that's true. Too many moving parts to generalize.

If it's the same/more than yeah. I got my 2010 at 3 years old but under 7K miles.

All through college etc I drove old cars I could buy outright for $1k or less..first vehicle I spent much for was my 97 Oldsmobile in 2001 for about $5K. Even at that I had just received a settlement and paid outright.

If I wanted to sell my 2017 that has just 64,000 miles, I could easily get much more than the market should offer. The dealership where I bought mine has contacted me several times tempting me. But for me, then going and investing in another overpriced truck isn’t realistic. I’m not tired of my Tacoma yet … still liking the truck and planning to keep it. I usually keep what I buy for many years. There’s no real good choices/deals or inventory new or used out there across the brands.

I think it’s a good time to dump a car you don’t want but if you like your car there is no point.

    I wanted specific features.

Manual with the sunroof so that limited me to 2 trims. Been looking for a reasonable price since release, I was much poorer in 2015. Changed jobs, got a raise, and found the taco I wanted at a price I was fine with.

    36k for 40k miles trdor.
