You and me both.. this is apparently not my year for anything at all.

side bar….. This would be fun as hell with smaller wheels and street tires. Supermoto build.

Peter's Mill Run has changed a bit since I was there last. Two new gates on the trail and we didn't find that mud hole at the north end. I think part of the trail was redirected onto some wider ATV trails.

So what a disasterous first trial run with the camper at my in-laws last Friday, ahead of the Saturday honey extraction party.

Wife wasn't able to sleep/get comfy, 2yr old slept for 830pm until 145am. Katelyn went in around 2am with kiddo to get milk...came back in and told me the horizontal awning arm was bent due to nonforecasted rain, which pooled toward the lowered side. Obviously not steep enough a slope...after another 1.5hrs of screaming and crying, Katelyn informed me she had not been able to fall asleep due to the dainty trifold (essentially egg crate grade) foam mattress.
They left for home at 345am:anonymous:...then showed up at 9am!!!! Then the hive extractions led to 4 of the 5 hives being "dead"...though the one left was thriving thankfully.

FYI not a single ARB or other awning arm (pole) is available throughout the world per the internet, and even those websites showing in stock cancelled my orders and followed up to tell me they have no known eta for these items to be in stock.
Thankfully I straightened out the inner bent pole enough to use it once the awning is out, but the two segments will be stored in the camper or truck bed.

Good call testing it close to home. What exactly is a “dead” hive?

So we don't know what happened to the bees, be it pesticides, etc. Several were overrun by wax moths, but don't know that they caused it vs. came in after the bees left/died off.

Damn! Sorry to hear, gotta push through. Look at it this way… this was the bad trip, any other issues should be trivial.

Hell yes, I've got my neighbor bringing home an 8ft 2inx1/4 wall sq tube tonight...I've walked through my tongue modifications with my FiL, which will end up adding a much needed 18-24" of tongue extension. Awaiting the lock n roll coupler and hitch to ship out before chopping up the 2" ball coupler.

Also need to figure out how I'll remount the battery box either on just a flat run of material or make a shallow box with mounting slots/holes...might reconsider framing in the entire triangle area including pulling and remounting the tool box. Thinking about using diamond plating, wire grating, or some sheet metal...the box is mounted using the A couplers rear 2 bolts
    20220526_120200.jpg 20220526_120150.jpg

So I think we will be cutting the coupler off right around the foremost bolt. This is should cutoff enough of the two angled tubes to allow the new tongue extension to nest between. I'm running this tube extension to the same cross member the angled tongue tubes end, see the above photo. I don't think, given the size and max weight of this camper, I will need to "box" the end together, but can do so afterwards.
    20220526_120315.jpg

Also, the new trifold mattress should arrive Thursday, so likely that weekend we will do a backyard run and see how the wife takes to it. The 2yr old, that just takes repetition/acclimation for her to be able to wake up and not "freakout"/want to be in her bedroom.
Persistence pays off, much like proper planning & prepared prevents piss poor performance!
