30lbs is with the bolts, washers, rings and metal valve stems.

And yes E rated tires are for semi trucks

Probably not recommended. I think he really pushes 42’s for these trucks.

I think the title of this thread says all that needs to be said.

 

I’m probably going to start a GoFundMe for him so he can afford to replace the front diff, transmission, transfer case, rear axle and motor

 

I can get behind that haha I’m ok with replacing any and all of the above, but think of all the sammys, old yotas etc on smaller engines and axles running 40+. Not saying it’s ideal by any stretch, but definitely doable. Gotta consider the environment, too. Steering will likely be the only proactive upgrade. Everything else will be on an as it breaks timetable unless I get bored first. I’ve got an FJ with 250k that might like a lower mile engine/tranny.

 

I keep thinking about my old Toyota on 37’s and how it broke all of the above parts with a 75hp 22r doing rock crawler things. That was in a truck that only weighed 2800lbs with all the fancy cromoly Toyota parts. Now double the weight, power and increase tire size and I get scared.

 

Also 2000-4000 lbs lighter! Lol

Shhhh those sound like facts. We don’t like facts, just 40’s! 35’s look tiny now. Wouldn’t want anyone thinking I have a teeny peeny. Also, if you don’t break everything when you wheel, how will everyone know you’re hardXcore?

 

I’m not fully comprehending how people are running 40’s without greatly limiting travel. With 37’s I’m 1.125” forward and I’m damn near into my headlight at full bump. Like less than an inch of clearance.

 

Side note. It wasn’t a very fun weekend. Once the glass and front clip is pulled the cab is getting primed, wet sanded and painted. Then we begin the journey of reassembling. Logged 130 man hours since Thursday between my dad, fiancé and myself. We will definitely be crossing the 1,000 man hour territory soon.

 

I second this. I’ve been tubbing the front fenders for the last couple of months. 37’s were a terrible decision. But I want every inch of travel cleared out. Surprised at just how far I’ve had to go in order to facilitate this. 35’s and fancy inner fenders seems like a gift now.

 

37’s are a great decision. But yeah the work sucks. Fk 40’s and the horse they rode in on. I draw the line at headlight relocations….

 

Smartest thing will be going to 37’s first. Upgrading everything without a huge amount of downtime and frustration- steering, brakes, driveshaft, axle etc. and then seeing if 40’s are necessary. I’m thinking jumping straight to 40’s would a nightmare of garage time and no fun time.

 

FWIW, 37's are a nightmare. So yeah, I wouldn't want anything to do with 40's.
