I haven't bought/sold thru BaT but that doesn't surprise me at all. They curate their auctions now too, so they don't just take any random car. I imagine they see a lot of demand but are only picking the certain types of vehicles they want. Not sure how many other options there are out there but I recently started checking out carsandbids.com as a BaT alternative as most of the BaT cars now are all way, way above what my pocketbook can afford.

That said, 1-2 months isn't really that bad since once it's listed the sale happens pretty quickly. If you were to get your car posted on craigslist or other sites it could easily take a month or more until you find a buyer. Of course you could also sell it in a matter of days if you're lucky or giving it away for less than market value.

BaT has "accepted" my car so now I *get* to pay the $100 to start the process to have them list it if I want. Are you saying the cars on BaT are too nice so they cost too much, or they get bid up higher than they should? Cause if it's the latter, that's good motivation for me to throw the $100 their way and get patient.

I've checked out cars & bids, unfortunately this little Triumph is pre-1980 so Doug won't allow it.

Cars on bat are selling for way more than they should imo. That is the best platform as a seller, maybe not for the buyer lol.

This. I frequent BaT, mainly just to cure my boredom at work. Lately the prices have been getting out of control. I actually bought my Land Cruiser from BaT a couple years ago, but the auction ended on Christmas Eve, so not a lot of eyes were on it, so I got a good deal, but most auctions seems to be quite overpriced now. The first 2 Rivian R1T's on there sold for $119k!!

I also helped my dad sell a little Mazdaspeed Miata on BaT a year or so ago, and it was a smooth process. It took a while to get it listed, like you said @RyanL but once it went live it was pretty fun and exciting.

That's interesting, I didn't realize Cars&Bids didn't do older stuff. As for BaT... my comment was less about the cars being overpriced compared to their value and more that the types of cars that usually sell there are over my budget. As the namesake implies you used to be able to get all sorts of deals and projects for cheap if you just "bring a trailer" to get it out of the owners yard. But now, it's almost all high end stuff - either expensive cars or unique/rare/mint versions of otherwise cheaper vehicles. None of that really fits what I'd be interested in buying (at least right now). It's not the place to find bargains. It's the place to find the nicest version of something or to get top dollar for your car if you're selling. I'm pretty confident that if you sell on BaT you're probably gonna get the most possible compared to any other option.

Not sure the cars aren't actually worth what they're selling for but usually more than I'd be willing to pay! I think the bigger issue is just the auto market in general. All pricing is inflated right now and BaT just amplifies that even more.

It's gonna be really interesting to see what happens with car values over the next 1-3yrs. It can't continue like it is, that's for sure. For the collector type stuff I have a feeling prices won't deflate much, if at all, because all the people buying at high prices right now won't be willing to sell at a loss and would rather sit on it. We'll see.

Well that's definitely beat on. How much frame, suspension and steering damage is there and before you say "none", We all know that's not true. LOL !!!

Anyone running Eibach red PRO coilsprings with bilstein 5100's?how much lift on which setting? I have a set of 2015 PRO coils and I'm not sure if I want to combine them with my 5100's or my original BAJA Bilsteins front shocks. I have a Demello steel front bumper and winch but I'm thinking about removing the winch to shed weight. I might use the winch once a year, going to mount it to a cradle for use on front or rear. Thanks in advance.
