seat covers, floor mats, 235/85/16 duratracs, and bed mat from my 2nd gen were in the day I received it.

 

For sure. My top priority.

what seat covers did you go with? So many options… know I don’t want leather-like or anything else that will get hot in the desert heat. Trying to find some reputable brands and figure it out from there.

 

What does that entail? If you don’t mind sharing. I’m always looking to learn.

 

Ooh, that seems really useful. Thanks. I’m not very mechanically-inclined unfortunately so I’ll have to have a buddy help me install it. Mind sharing where you picked it up? Someone else mentioned having an anytime forward/backward camera, I believe. Would that be similar to this?

Don't do anything for a bit. Figure out how you're going to use your rig first, and go from there. Over time, your plans may change.

I opted for the simple installation (no front camera). What you want is the override harness from https://www.anytimebackupcamera.com/ Ordering just the harness is not easy on their web site. You might have to contact them by phone. In early 2021, mine cost about $43.

There are two other parts of the installation. One is the dash switch. I got it from Air on Board ($20). https://www.aironboard.com/online/p...ota-oem-replacement-rear-camera-new-blue.html And if you want the switch to be illuminated, you need the breakout harness ($20) from Kyle Morgan (member here) at morgan_kyle10@yahoo.com This connects to the illumination circuit at the nearby Auto High Beams switch.

Installation involves pulling the head unit out (there are YouTube videos on this) and inserting the override harness between one of the plugs on the back, and the vehicle's wiring harness. (Again, there's a video on this on the Anytime Backup Camera's web site.) Then you run the long, thin red wire over to the left side switch cluster (or the center switch cluster, if you prefer). A bit of soldering of the switch wires is needed.

Leer 100XR with the factory Thule rack tracks. Added a Prinsu rack on top.

 

It is a protective film that is sprayed on the under carriage, however you don’t need that in AZ. My ‘99 1st Gen is an AZ truck, spent 15 years of its life there, didn’t start seeing rust until we moved to Idaho.

 

I'm gonna give +1 to seat covers. Anything that adds longevity/protection of resale.

3 years down the line and I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on either PPF or ceramic coating.

and i swap most of the bulb to LED rightaway too

 

#1 Mudflaps on all my vehicles.

 

Topper was the first thing I added.

 

I'm still waiting on mine (today is build day) but I live in Montana where we put gravel on the roads during winter instead of salt.
On our Subaru we've gotten so many little dings on the front from pebbles and the sides dinged up from people opening their doors into the car that some sort of protection in both places are high on my list of must-haves.

Also, definitely need a bed cover of some sort to keep snow out during the winter and in general to streamline the airflow when not hauling.

 

Had my truck two days before I tossed on a topper. Tried without one with the old truck, but didn’t like it, do have a small utility trailer for the nasty stuff and the nice things get hauled in the bed, basically use it as a giant trunk.

 

I understand... I carry work tools in the bed which I work for home construction. If I need to carry big stuff that doesn't fit in bed, I get trailer or borrow someone's truck.

Soon, I plan to get all the tools out and clean the bed up.

 

Camp and moto gear is all about I carry in the bed. Any big dirty home improvement stuff goes on the trailer. There was a time where I would haul dirt, gravel, or firewood in the truck…those days are gone. Trying to keep it nice long as possible.

 

Smear lithium grease on the seat fabric.

 

That's good. I saw a video while back that some guy put tarp in the bed as a liner so he can fill rocks or dirt in it.. Once finished, take the tarp off, the bed looks good. That way he didn't have to waste money on rental trailer.

 

I’d suggest getting the OEM tailgate lock. It is easy to install while the truck is clean and new. It’ll be a bit dirtier of a job to install once the truck has some miles on it.

I run a bed cover (tri-fold) so I can store stuff (golf clubs, etc.) securely. Gotexhaust is a good vendor with a variety of brands here on our forum.

You might also want to grab a Talon Garage catalytic converters cover. Again, easy to install yourself while the truck is clean and new.

Everything else is really just what makes you happy. I added an OEM Pro front skid plate because I like the look as OEM tube side steps. Again, installing those on a clean truck is almost a pleasure. Less so on a dirty old rig.

As for seat covers, I run Wet Okole brand. I had them for nearly a decade on my 2010, so it was an easy decision to put them on my ‘21 immediately.
