    Hi everyone,

I am brand new to these fourms. I recently picked up a 2022 Tacoma TRD OR back in December. Sadly in february Texas got hit with some icy weather and I was part of a big pile up. Took it to a certified toyota collision center and its been a bit of a nightmare… Delay after delay after delay, it was only body panels at first (3 months). The suspension felt off, steering wheel wasn’t straight, alignment was off, panels weren’t lining up. Long story short after I gave it back not satisfied they found a bad leaf spring, bad axel shaft, and some bearings then gave it right back to me. Here we are today and the steering wheel is still not straight after 2 alignments, and I just found this which I was dumbfounded by. They used 3 washers on one side of the bed to frame mount. Would this hold up? Personally this doesn’t look right to me, but I am trying to get an expert opinion here. Let me know yall’s thoughts.

No, this is not good. I would be contacting my insurance company ASAP.

Agreed. I'd email those pics to the shop GM and cc my insurance agent. That's not a roadworthy truck, and I'd be wanting an explanation on why they thought that was acceptable.

That's a cheese dick move by the repair facility. Not only did they crookedly stack the washers, but the paint on them is incomplete with tons of overspray. Those will trap moisture and rust prematurely.

Oh man that definitely looks like a crack! But I went out and checked and no crack here, so we are all clear there. As for the overapray I didn’t even notice that or think about the rust! I am taking it back to the dealership first thing tomorrow morning.

Does anyone think the frame could be bent which is why they used the washers as shims?

It’s anybody's guess but something is tweaked somewhere. Good luck.

Replace it, even if it costs you a few thousand.

Probably still last longer than the Toyota frame though.

Hmm. Steering/alignment off, body panels not lining up, use of what would seem to be non-OEM "repair" methods, shop not catching major issues. Seems to me that the shop didn't want the job so they did the absolute minimum to get it out the door, hoping you wouldn't notice or care. I'd say, with all the issues, the frame is no longer in its original shape.
Contact your insurance, maybe the shop charged for stuff that wasn't done. Either way, their duty was to get it back to pre collision condition. They failed and need to restart the evaluation.

Good eye. Since the work is so shabby and probably dangerous, I would contact the state bureau of auto repair. A second opinion is needed and possibly a replacement of the vehicle. Had a similar situation here in Washington state and the local department was able to get answers quick and to my satisfaction. Good luck and don't let those fools touch it again.

OP my previous post was a joke. The frame is likely bent.

What did the damage adjusters original report say? I'd get the DA back out to look at the repairs and go from there. It's your insurers job to make sure the vehicle is repaired to pre-accident condition and that has obviously not been done here.

This is a good development, EXTENSIVE DAMAGE, meaning you have more leverage for a vehicle replacement.
Frame must be bent, either get it straightened by someone who cares, or pursue the Ins company for a new truck.

And document the terrible repairs you received thus far.

Especially concerning that this is a Toyota CCC that did all this. WTF

Thank yall greatly for your input here! I'm taking it back to the dealership and i'm going to make this a big deal. Thinking of even getting corporate toyota involved so they know that this certified dealership is doing uncertified work. I will update yall as things unfold!

When I had my issues, it seemed the west coast factory rep was as cheesy as the local dealership when it came to owning up. Only once the state was involved, the cooperation was there. Very eye-opening and a huge letdown initially on their part.

I absolutely would mention to corporate..it could be they're not aware of it and will not want to sit for this.
