We use 10-32 screws for that, the m5 is close in diameter but will mess up the threads.

Just placed an order for the DMM + 1 extra ball. Pretty excited for this...my suction cup mount has been driving me mad!

 

Did you find a solution to this? I'm thinking of being a goon and mounting the 12.9" ipad to the DMM.

 

I'd put a rubber sleeve over it. Unlubricated of course.

Got my DMM installed. Great product! Easy install.

 

Sorry if this was addressed somewhere in the previous 90 pages, but as best as I can tell the threads are 10-32 but Ram balls are 1/4" x 20. Is there a reason for the non-standard approach? I know TG sells a similar ball mount, but I think Ram balls are rubber and I can't tell for sure but looks like maybe the TG ball is plastic.

Also curious what phone mount is simple and sturdy. I kind of don't like the ones where you have to use two hands to spread the arms and grab the phone.

Also any suggestion on something for holding a handheld radio like a Baofeng?

There’s plenty of magnetic RAM holders for your phone, probably too many to share here. Get a proper magnetic mount though. The RAM MagSafe (iOS) ball adapter has some complaints about not being strong enough.

If you intend to use it while off pavement, I do recommend using one of the x-grips variants.

I have had this on my DMM for over a year and have no complaints. Easily adjusts to different size phones and keeps everything secure.

Just wondering can you use the dmm mount but the 67 holder, carbon fiber arm? It seems they all use the same 1” ball right?

 

Yes - that's what I'm using on my truck.

 

This looks great. I already have the phone holder + ball mount from tacogarage. If I order this do you know if will I be able to attach it directly to the ball mount I already have, or do I need some sort of adapter?

I just got mine. Shipping was very fast. Install was as easy as described. I got the MagSafe mount with it. The weird thing is that if I route the MagSafe cable behind the trim piece (making sure to not pinch it), it doesn't want to charge my phone, but f I leave it on the outside, it charges just fine.

 

Question. What did you guys use to drill? I have multiple drill bits and not one has a “#10” size. They are all fractions.
