The old garage again...

 

Dave wanted to take this old Sinclair oil can with him, but deemed it to be rusted out and also too full of crud; I don't even think that Sinclair is still around!

 

Now, what could that be up there?!?!

 

This structure is located just up the hill behind the remains of the cinderblock garage; I thought it was a cabin at first, but it actually appears to have been a footbridge...

 

The voluntary buyback of private property in Centralia started in the early 1990s, and eminent domain was declared in 1993; A lot of the old tires scattered around the garage seem to be from the 1970s and 1980s, so it is entirely possible that these have been here since before eminent domain was declared, as opposed to having been discarded by thoughtless litterbugs...

This one has definitely been here for years; I'm guessing at least a decade before the first iPhone was released!

 

The bridge again...

 

Up in the hills where I took the Tacoma "soft-roading" back in March; While it wasn't as packed together as downtown Centralia, we are all pretty sure there used to be single-family homes up here...

 

The wind farm again...

 

You can just barely see St. Mary's poking out in the distance; My memory card malfunctioned and we were nowhere near a place that sold them, so the Nikon was pretty much useless on this trip...

 

I think your mechanic can probably get it figured out.
I’d start by examining the data on a scan tool

Look at the stop switch status, speed signal, and gear indicator status (park neutral safety).

The cruise will self cancel when the shifter is in any position other than D.
It will also cancel when the stop switch is On. As well as a speed signal malfunction. There are a few other things that would cause the problem, but I’d suspect they would have caused a check engine if that were the case.

It’s also possible there is a problem with the switch itself. But we know the switch has “some” communication with the ECM, as it is turning on the light.

Again, I feel like your mechanic will have it figured out fairly quickly.
