I didn't care for the pellets personally and this is the same stuff we've used for years. We may switch down the road when we don't have like 5 bags stashed away but for now I think this is just something that falls under general maintenance activities. It was just something we picked up using how we always have and this house is like nah, bitch. That ain't how I work. :annoyed:

I go through salt pretty quickly since the water is pretty hard in these parts. I've used pellet salt since moving in. Seems to have worked well for me. Previous owner used rock salt and it was a nasty sludgey mess I had to clean out. It was a wonder it came back alive though. Although it looks like I might not need to add any more salt and just let it run out. The old unit is slowly dieing off from what it feels like. Another damn thing to buy for the house... :annoyed:

We had a massive water filtration system when we bought this house (Culligan), but there's only so much they can do with mud...our water looked like tea. o_O
They ran city water out here the same week my kid was born, we were the first to hook up.

    Side note:
I have several friends with very good well water, it just wasn't the case here.

Ugh, that's painful. I was close to calling a plumber on this one but glad I looked into it further. I think because we had a water storage tank before that we never got the typical sediment that you would get with a unit. I think we're still salvageable with a little TLC and purchasing future stock in Iron Out which is a stupid amazing product I'll never live without now.
