I might not have fancy wheels but I certainly have bling.

Another year or two and I'll have all the fasteners and brackets in the truck replaced with stainless and aluminum. I'm probably halfway at least by now.

Niiiiice. I need to replace my roof rack hardware with torx 1/4 20. I hate smaller high torque hex heads.

Sausages. Turkey breast. Drum sticks. Pork loin. Basically clearing my freezer (thawed out don't worry) for the first smoke of the season.

Small scale you can afford home Depot and the such. License plate bolts etc. Large scale you'll want to go to the inter webs.

Not always the cheapest, but in my experience a pretty good selection.

People who wheel here together- do you guys use GMRS? It looks like its just $35 for 10 years?

Anyways, looking into ideas of how to communicate even if its just a buddy in my truck spotting

    Just get an FRS handheld.

FRS and GMRS use the same frequencies. A GMRS license and radio permit (1) higher power, and (2) repeaters

Most of the time, you don’t need those. I use an FRS handheld and it gets ~2 miles line of sight.

That said - coincidentally, just this morning I applied for my GMRS license.

In my opinion, the best radios to use are MURS on VHF, you’ll get a lot further with a lot less power on the VHF band instead of the UHF band that GMRS uses. And MURS is free, no license needed, etc.

But, GMRS seems to be where everyone is going right now. I would say you don’t need it, get an FRS handheld, but it’s 35$ and a just-in-case if you get a radio with more kick in the future (Midland dash mount, etc).

Most people think that poison ivy is contagious and that it is passed onto other people and other parts of the body. While this is can be true, it only happens until the original oil is washed off the skin, clothes or other areas contaminated. If clothes or other articles contain any of the oil from the plant then people will continue to have a reaction if they contact the poison ivy again. If you think you have come into contact with poison ivy you should shed all contaminated clothes or other contaminated items, then clean yourself very well with soap and water. People often say that poison ivy "spreads" when most of the time what really happens is that the areas of the skin that have received a greater amount of oil exposure show the signs of poison ivy infection first, followed by areas with less oil showing up progressively later so it appears that the poison ivy is "spreading" when it is not.

My worst experience with poison ivy was as a teenager when I helped my Dad burn leaves in the fall. He raked them to me and I picked them up and put them in a burn barrel. The burning process must have released the poison ivy oil, made it airborne and the final effect on me was that literally every square inch of my body was covered and very swollen. I was out of school for 3 days and there was nothing that made me stop itching. It was torture.

Yup. Also, poison Ivy, Oak, and Sumac are all the same thing - Urishiol (Probably spelled that wrong) so if you are allergic to one, you’re allergic to them all. The stems are worse.

Dawn or otherwise dish soap w/ degreaser if possible. It’s an oil, treat it like tractor grease getting on your hand/arm.

I think my dumb ass didn’t clean my hands enough after pulling a vine that I THINK was poision ivy, thinking back. So, I’m nerfing the back yard after work tonight. No laziness, if it ain’t grass it’s coming out and then hitting it with round up

I have NOT had the displeasure of being around a burn, but I’ve heard horror stories. Not something I have any intention of trying :)

The other thing is that the oil remains active indefinitely, meaning years. So you want to clean any tools exposed to it with an effective solvent & discard the rags. Bleach is recommended for that as well as contaminated clothing. Don't use bleach in the laundry myself as I don't want it in my septic tank. Detergent has always removed 99% of it from the duds.

My dad also has a 19 F250. I borrowed it for an hour. Figured I'd replace the gas I used, so I threw in $20. Started it up, and decided I better throw in another $20.

File this one under "head scratcher"

Been in my company 22 years now..getting to be a little annoyed in general with the lack of advancement opportunities despite always getting asked to do things above my grade.

    Anyway..

Prior to 2020's changes in life I had shadowed another area in my unit. It's a little more work and no extra $ but a great place to get exposure and move up the ladder. The manager is younger but seems very responsive and approachable, as she was to questions I had when 3 slots on the team opened up 2-3 months ago.

When the role was actually posted (3 slots) one of the 2 people I shadowed reached out and sent me the posting link. I got interviewed by him and the manager who were impressed with most every answer I gave and each one mentioned during the interview they were hoping that I'd apply and were thrilled that I had.

Interview was roughly 6 weeks ago. Last week I happened to look at the organizational chart and noticed the number changed. Turns out 2 people were hired for the role 2 weeks prior. I've not heard one single word from anyone.

Maybe I'm being salty..always possible. Nor do I expect or ask for special treatment. But how does one go from being approached to apply, fawned over in the interview to not even getting a followup of any kind and the roles being filled?
