AVIC-D3 Install Help

Installing a pioneer AVIC-D3 in my 2nd gen taco

Speed sensor wire, and reverse wire.

I'd like to tap into these wires right under the dash somewhere if possible, but I have no idea where they would be. Any ideas?

Thought you were getting the Kenwood? Or are you just asking about different Navi/DVD units in general to decide which is easier to override the safety controls?

 

I went with the pioneer because i got it for really f*ing cheap! It's practically brand new. i got it from a friend, along with the bluetooth module, siruis module, backup camera, all the goodies $400

I'm interested to hear your review on it. I heard mixed reviews on them that's why I chose the Kenwood (mixed review on it too). But I was always a Pioneer fan...

Just ordered the Pioneer Avic F700Bt from Crutchfield. $439. Will take pics when I install. I wasn't planning on getting a rig with nav, but I think I will like it

 

heres a couple pics..

The splash screen is a toyota emblem over a corner of the earth and it says "navigation system loading" Pic looks like crap but it actually looks great on the screen. Then I have the yota devil horns for the other backgrounds

Is that speed sensor wire the same as the VSS wire? I have my Z1 installed today but the guy forgot to tap into my spedometer for the other goodies the Avic can suport. If so any pics of what wire we need to tap it to?

Yah, it's the VSS. I can take some pics tomorrow in the daylight for sure. Did you get the reverse hooked up?

 

Found these on another forum..

VSS = Purple / white wire behind the glove box..





And the reverse wire can be found in the drivers kick panel. Red / white wire, and it is a bigger guage than most of the wires down there:

 

Ok cool thanks! I didn't hook up the reverse since I don't have a backup camera installed.

 

No prob, but IMO You should hook up the reverse wire while you got the deck pulled out. This way u dont have to pull the deck apart again if you decide to get a camera later

Where did you mount your GPS antenna? Mine is on the dash in the middle with double sided tape that's not holding up very well lol.

 

I put mine on the roof, but other people have stuck them inside the dash behind the stereo and say that it works fine

 

Hmm I have my xm on the roof just above the door jam above the windshield. Maybe just buying some heavy duty tape and securing it better where it's at and leave it at that LOL.

Where did you get your dash kit and for how much? The one my installer used is smooth on the top no ridges like the stock one.

 

I secured a radar to the dash in my old car with double sided tape..the really strong stuff. the paper was red, it held down nicely

i got the scosche kit from ********* it was like $66
